SRT-4 vs. 98 Cobra
i am new to this forum but I have an ignorant freind who is obsessed with his 98 cobra and says he can not lose to an SRT-4 and I wanted to find out for sure if the SRT-4 would beat his car...I think it will but just to make sure
If he has a 98 Cobra SVT the list I referred to in another thread shows almost a dead heat in the 1/4 mile and 0-60 times...if the SRT owner has the stage one kit installed, the SRT-4 would have an edge, but with the stage two kit installed, the SRT-4 would leave the Cobra in the snake charmer's basket...[sm=smiley36.gif]
For your friend's sake, I hope he doesn't come upon any "tuned" SRT-4s, he'll not only be ignorant and obsessed, but pi55ed-off as well...[sm=smiley20.gif]

Then I'd say it's a drivers race... what kinds of transmissions on both? Manuals always seem to have a slight edge... LOL!

When you say "beat", what do you mean? On the street? At the track? At the dragstrip?
If he's that worried a $20,000 American car will "beat" him, tell him to trade in his Cobra and buy a SRT-4...and for about 2K more he can upgrade it to the point that he can sleep very, very, well at night...[sm=smiley36.gif]
I may be wrong, but from what I have read, the SRT has the advantage at upper speeds (highway and above 40 mph). If he jumps on one on the highway, he better be ready for a good race... From a standstill, he might have a little edge on you, but not much. Once the turbo really kicks in, it would be a close race. As everyone else has said, very slight mods to the SRT and you have a cobra covered.
