2ND GEAR QUESTION
FROM BRAND NEW, GETTING MY SRT INTO 2ND WHEN DOWNSHIFTING IS A CHORE. YOU HAVE TO MUSCLE IT IN ABOUT 70% OF THE TIME. THERE'S NO PROBLEM IN ANY OTHER GEAR DOWNSHIFTING, AND IT'S SMOOTH UPSHIFTING. ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEM?
How old is the car? meaning did you just get it? I had the same prob when i 1st got mine adn at times in still have an issue....
Its normal... but you its difficult to downshift at high Rpm's

Didn't read the queston right the first time. On second thought, try rev-matching when downshifting. The car has a beefy tranny and it really helps.
When you say it doesn't happen in any other gear, you are excluding 1st, right? First is generally a little harder than 2nd to downshift into. Otherwise, all is normal.

My car is only a month old and has about 1800 miles on it. I haven't noticed your problem specifically, but I have always thought the trans was especially notchy. It shifts lovely at normal speeds and is better when warmed up, but takes an excessively high amount of pressure to upshift to any gear when going quickly. I just keep telling myself it will get better as the trans breaks in, but that may take quite some time with the slipperyness of these new fluids. Changing fluids can DRASTICALLY affect how well your trans will shift , but being a Mopar guy,(and having owned the buzz click trans before) I know the importance of staying with the factory recommended fluids. If warranties and long trans life are not concerns of yours, you may find great satisfaction simply by changing the fluid. All this, of course does not rule out some sort of mechanical problem that you may have. As those in the previous replies have said rev matching helps a great deal when downshifting from higher rpm's. 100% true.
THE CAR IS 3 WEEKS OLD AND I NOW HAVE 864 MILES ON IT. I'LL JUST HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS. I NEVER DOWNSHIFT INTO 1ST BECAUSE 2ND ALWAYS HOLDS YOU BACK ENOUGH FOR TURNS OR STOPS. I IMAGINE 1ST IS HARD TO GET INTO THOUGH. OH WELL, I HAVE 7 YEARS AND 69,136 MILES TO BREAK IT, IF IT DOES BREAK. BUT FROM WHAT I HEAR FROM YOU GUYS, ITS NORMAL DUE TO THE BEEFY TRANS. THANKS FOR THE INFO.
