Default ANOTHER OIL QUESTION

I'M SURE THIS HAS BEEN POSTED BEFORE, BUT I HAVE AN OIL QUESTION. MANUFACTURER PREFERS 10W30, BUT I HAVE READ FROM A COUPLE OF YOU GUYS SUGGESTING 5W30. I'LL BE USING MOBIL 1 FULLY SYN. JUST WONDERING IF THERE WERE BENEFITS FROM USING A LIGHTER WEIGHT OIL? THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT.

that's not exactly why they recommend that oil. It deals with a little thing called viscosity... ha-ha... emissions and gas mileage are old wives tales...

5W30 or 10W30 for summer and 5W30 for winter.

well thats fine do what you guys want but there is a reason why everyone who runs 30w oils magicaly has to add oil in between oil changes...hmmmm could it be the turbo is burning off the oil because its to thin for the heat? nah oh wait lets read the Mobil 1 container...yup here it is 10w40 "Turbo Aproved" and here is what i use, 15w50 "Performance Driving- Turbo aproved" and here is the 5w30 "newer car formula" no where does it say "turbo aproved" hmm look at any 10w40 bottle they all say turbo aproved... hmmm yea...look at the 10w30 mobil one does it say turbo approved? nope there is a reason. to thin for the temps of a turbo. im just trying to keep your cars alvie. if your worried about viscoisity run mobil 1 0w40 is "turbo aproved" Btw the W in the 0w40 means it "Winter" so it flows as a 0 weight oil in cold and 40 wieht in heat

it's very interesting that oil companies would spell "approved" wrong on their label...

also interesting that the manufacturer of the car could be so wrong with their recommendations on oil... huh...
