Thinking about getting an SRT-4, but have questions first!
I'll try to make this as short as possible, and i appreciate everyone who takes the time to read this and post. I have been thinking about buying an srt (04/05) for the past few weeks. I've been doing some research on them, but some of my questions I'm getting different results for. So here are some of the questions i hope you guys can help me out with!
-What is the stock boost level? I have read it varies with outside temp., is this true?
-Can you fit a 215/45/17 size tire on the stock rims? I know they are only 6" wide which is why i question a 215.
-I have also read that these cars seem pretty reliable if kept near stock, also true?
-Does the car have a stock BOV or not? What is the mopar conversion kit that i have seen?
-What kind of fuel mileage can i expect (not really hard driving, but there will be a few pulls in a tank)?
-As i understand it, they seem to be under-rated from the factory, what kind of WHP do they put down stock? about 215-220 sound close?
-Is the 3rd gear problem as bad as i have read? I don't really want to do a trans rebuild shortly after purchase...
-On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the best, how would you rate the enjoyment you get out of driving an SRT4? The reason i ask is because the way i see it, you can have a nice car with nice options and luxurys, but hate driving the thing, and then you can have a car with not so nice luxurys but absolutely love driving the thing. And driving enjoyment is the most important feature i think any car can offer.
Thank you very much for any input you may have to any of my questions!!

2nd question - I wouldnt put that size. Either go stock 205/50 or 215/50 some people have put 215/45 on but that isnt safe.
3rd question - They are reliable even at 400whp. It is all in the tune if you go above stock.
4th question - The mopar kit pushes the gas externally giving you that famous pshhhh sound
5th question - 28mpg on the highway. My car gets 32mpg with 750cc injectors.
6th question - They were very under rated. Test have shown they were pushing 230whp rather then 230 at the engine.
7th question - People have had problems with third gear mostly downshifting into third. Generally the shift fork is to blame on this problem.
I would rate having an SRT-4 at a 9 because nothing is perfect. I enjoy my SRT-4. It gets me to where I need to go and puts more then 420whp.

I agree with this also. The closer to stock it is the more likely it has not been abused. If the car has been modified you are taking a chance on what you get.
Correct modded engine wise.

you can easily put 215s on the factory wheel, in fact some even put 225s (those are pushing it).
Stock does have a BOV but its a recirculationg one and blows the excess back into the airstream as opposed to externally
Reliablility depends on you and how you take care of the car. In my experience, this car is really well made for what it is and can take a lot of what you through at it
The 3rd gear or any tranny issue is due to abusive drivers and acting retarted not so much a factory defect
At stock, mine dynod 230whp, 250tq (+/- a hp or so)
