Snap-Crackle-Pop- Exhaust Noises?
I was wondering why all these sounds come from the SRT-4 more than any factory car that I can think of? Straight through exhaust system or unburnt fuel igniting in the pipe system? My Borla system muffled these sounds somewhat but they are still pronounced when decel.
I am by far not one of the pros here but i think it has to do with the fact that we have no muffler amd that there is hardle any back pressure in our exhaust system. Once again im not sure on this.
It does have something to do with the lack of a muffler, and im no expert on it either, but the turbo falls into play also.
But heres my theory: Who cares where it comes frmo...it sounds awesome!

That's right. No muffler=popping... Drop the cat and you'll breathe fire, as well. Be glad we have the turbo, without it blocking some of the noise from the engine, this car would be ear-splitting.

pvo engineers have seen as much as 35 psi of backpressure

its the non-existant muffler

Ive heard that it depends on the turbo. Different sizes/manufactuers, whether its ball-bearing or not, really key in to how much backpressure it can take, or how much it likes. Some turbos hardly like it at all, others can't get enough. I don't know too much about backpressure and turbos to edumakate on it, but I do know it varies.
