First oil change??
Changed it on Tuesday, at the 3 month point, per dealer recommendation (3 months/3,000 miles) although the engine only had 750 miles on it. I'm switching to Amsoil on my next oil change, but am running Mobile 1 right now. Both are way, way better than regular "dino" oils.....[&:]
I did my first oil change at 1500 miles, then at 3000 I went to Mobil 1, ( what the book recommends) and then I change the oil every 2500 miles. But if it’s your first oil change, have fun trying to remove the factory oil filter :-) I had to destroy mine just to get the darn thing off.
I went all out and bought the service contract and the extended warranty. I have to take the thing to the dealer every 90 days for the first year for the oil changes. I thought it would be a hassle, but I got in and out of there in 30 minutes (and drank 3 cups of their coffee and ate two of their donuts!). [sm=smiley36.gif]
An old and wise mechanic once told me, "There's no such thing as changing the oil too often." Considering the forces at work under the SRT-4's hood, I'd say that's good advice![sm=smiley17.gif][sm=smiley20.gif]
Very good advice. I changed mine at 1000 miles and still stuck with regular oil to make sure that it got broke in correctly, but at 3000 I plan to change to mobil one and change it every 2500 at least. If you use amsoil, I certainly would not go that 20000 miles like it says. I read somewhere on this forum that it has a warning about tubo cars. Amsoil's warning says to change amsoil in turbo cars as regularly as any other oil...

You're correct. Amsoil's small print says to change the oil in turbocharged gas engines "according to the manufacturers recommendation". It's on the back of their 10W-30 syn oil jugs... (forget their 25,000 mile/1 year oil change B.S., that's just a sale's gimmick, plus you have to buy their filters and change them). I still rank it up there with mobil one though, the independent test results are impressive, even if their ads are sometimes a bit optimistic...[&:]

There's an interesting ongoing test of Mobil 1 and Amsoil on the Syn Lub thread....it seems to be the most independent test thus far. So far, it's pretty close, but Amsoil has an edge....
BTW, I use Mobil 1 right now, but I'm waiting to see how these tests come out....[sm=smiley23.gif]
