They do indeed have "detector detectors". But since radar detectors are only illegal in VA and D.C., most folks chances of having to avoid one is slim. And all modern detectors have "detector detector detection and avoidance"
See, the DD sends a signal that gets amplified by the superheterodyne circuitry that's at the heart of every modern detector. The DD then detects that amplified signal.
Modern detectors (except maybe the 14.99 Radio Shack Detecto Supremo
) are built so that if they sense that, they shut themselves down before the energy levels rise too high. Since the DD was called VG-2, most makers referred to it as VG-2 detection/stealth.

I like the "detector detector dection avoidance" measure[sm=icon_rofl.gif], looks like they need a "DDDD" in VA.
But then again - we would just end up haveing to get a "DDDDD" with "VG2-2-2". Isn't this radar war great.

I've got a Cobra that I spent 160 bucks on. Everyone disses the Cobras, but mine fkn rocks. Someone was driving my car around 50-55mph in what was probably a 35 zone and the INSTANT the cop came over the hill the K-Alert sounded off. I have VG-2 (Detector-Detector) radar on mine, and its also VG-2 Undetectable, which is what the voice alert tells me when the radars aimed at my car. I love my radar detector. I don't speed, but its nice to know when those lights you thought were a crown vic behind you driving down 112 (really dark fkn road) in Richmond at around 10:30 at night are a cop, so you can slow down, turn the music down, shut off the underglow, and be nice. (yes this happened last night). And my Cobra 11-band even works through the 5% tint, thats how you know it fkn rocks.
If i really were an animal I'd get the valentine one, but Im not....so I've got my Cobra....last thing I need is a tint/HID/underglow/System ticket

I agree the v-1 is slightly superior in directional range, but it doesn't give you the laser jammer as an option. IMO that puts the 8500 ahead by a mile. Plus - I certainly don't need any more sensitivity - the thing picks up 5-0 miles ahead.
Holy somkes - 14.99 - and I htought the 100$ models I had seen were cheap - what is it called - I gotta' check this one out.

Passport 8500 X50's multiple high-performance laser sensors provide maximum police laser (lidar) warning, with superior off-axis protection.

I see laser detection listed on the passport site but I didnt see anything about jamming it. nothing about emmitters

It is called a ZR3 laser shifter. Here is a link:

From what I hear that thing works amazing, a few of my friends have them.
