whats wrong with the stock tires?
I personally think the KDW's are the best handling tire iv'e ever had...........EXCEPT for the 205/50's that they put on the SRT.......the car simply overpowers them lil wheelbarrel tire's when accelerating, in turn causing a nasty "wheel hop" condition..........i just switched to 225/45/17's & i can now let out the clutch in first & put my foot right to the floor, w/ out ANY wheelspin...........it feel's GREAT!, can't wait to got to the track again & run some new times!(14.0@102 is my best on the ****ty 205's)________5TOEZ__________
Yup. the stock 205's are just too skinny. And the wheels are only 6" wide, which means putting anything wider than 215's and you *should* also look at wheels.
I'm running BFG KDW's (NT) in a 245/40R17 on 17x8" wheels (w/ a 35mm offset). With the stock suspension, I had no issues unless I REALLY pushed the car hard in a corner (usually left turn for some reason) then I'd get a little rubbing. I put Hotchkis springs on (1" drop Front, 2" drop rear) and now every once in awhile will catch a bump just right or turn fairly agressively and it will rub, but not bad. I'm having the front fenders rolled to clear the slicks I'll be using and that'll probably take care of all rubbing.
The 245's hook pretty good. On some streets I can actually run WOT in 1st (~12psi boost w/ the big turbo = ~315whp), however on most streets a little over 1/2 throttle will cook the tires pretty good. In 2nd I run about 15psi (~360whp) and it hooks up and takes off unless the street is wet or greasy. In 3rd, 4th & 5th I run 18psi (~400whp) and have no issues w/ wheelspin (unless the street is soaked, i.e. rainstorm).
When I was on the stock turbo pushing right at 300whp, it'd break the tires loose in 1st only, but I would get a few dog barks shifting hard into 2nd... the way the stock turbo spools up had something to do with that... the big turbo doesn't come on all at once, so I actually get better traction w/ more hp.
Here's a pic with the wheel turned so you can see how wide the tires are:

Widest without coil-overs or fender rolling, ya.
The 245's definitely change the way the car launches and corners. It was pretty easy to hit the limits of the stock tires in a corner... the 245's stick pretty good... I have yet to have them lose traction in a corner on dry pavement with a nuetral throttle position.

I got a quick question bout the tires. I got the 05 with the acr package, anyways it got the 16's and personally i think they are great i havent had a problem with them yet, are mine different because of the year of my car and the acr thing then what you guys got?
No, the ACR has the exact same BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2 tires that all the '04 and '05 SRT-4's have. The only difference is the size, the SRT-4 has 17 X 6 wheels with 205/50/17 tires, but the ACR has 16 X 7 wheels with 225/45/16 tires. These tires are great, they're just too narrow like the wheels, they should have came with 17 X 7 wheels and 225 or 235 tires. The complaint is how easily it overpowers the tires making it very difficult to launch.
ahh ok well i havent taken mine to the track and havent had to launch it. specially since im still under 1k miles, so i guess i have time to look into things for when i do start to step it up, thanks roadrunner
