New Tires Suggestions
Hey Kids,
Uncle SRT_YA is considering the upgrade to some new tires and rims... I've got the rims nailed down and the tire size spec'd to 225 / 40R18's... but I'm having a little trouble deciding on a tire... I don't need drag tires, and I don't autocross the thing... however, I am hoping for something that is comparable or better than the BFG's that are factory on the car (aka, stage 2 w/toys has rendered them useless in 1st and 2nd gear
)
I've got a few ideas narrowed to these three (I can get tire and rim combo's for a decent price):
Toyo Proxes T1R
Pirelli Pzero Rosso Asimm
Falken Azenis Rt615
any thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions?

As someone who worked in the tire business for a couple of years (a while ago) all I can tell you for sure is there is a price/quality correlation. Generally speaking. Low price=low quality. There are exceptions or middle ground tires of course like BFG where price isn't too bad and quality is good. Some tires are just too damn expensive for what little better they may be so ya really gotta do your research. I know guys that run cheap tires like radial road huggers on thier autocross car and do just fine. That is because they figure there just gonna tear them up anyway and they don't need a Z speed rating. They just use them for autocrossing. I cant give you a specific recommendation for a tire as I haven't yet begun looking for myself, but I will say that what ever tire you decide on, it needs to have a speed rating equal to how you plan to drive. That is probably the most important thing.
I agree with what you are saying Pressurecooker...
And Orange, i too have been thinking the Toyo's... though I had heard the Falkens were all right... **heard**
does anyone know where to find a rim similar to this one?? It's supposed to be made by 5ZIGEN but I haven't been able to find it... thoughts, ideas, suggestions? thanks!

i have the proxes 4, and i love them. this is my 3rd set of tires on the srt, and they are the best i've had so far. the toyo t1r's are a nice tire, but seem to be more for autox than street driving (i'm failry certain that the snyder scca srt uses those tires). the proxes are cheap too, got mine for about $90 each!
Are these T1r tires new or something. They last time I looked at Toyo they only had the T1s?
