It's weird. At first a few people were getting S3 to hold with W/I and 93 octane. S2 was a little more difficult because of the smaller turbo. Now it seems like S3 is having a hard time also.
I think the problems have more to do with jet quantity/size/placement than anything else. It's not as easy as hooking up a progressive system with one jet and adjusting your start and ramp.

Good luck & keep us posted on your progress.

wheat_burner - i'm getting w/i also, but i will tell you that it has been shown that in a lot of s3 cars w/i alone is not enough to hold hom. in s2 cars it is, but s3 is more sensitive to knock and requires a higher octane to hold hom anyway (104 with s3 compared to 100, or even 98, on s2). so even after getting w/i you may still need to throw in a couple of gallons of 100 to hold hom.

s3 seems much more sensitive to knock than s2 ever was. many people were able to use 93+torco to hold hom with s2, but this mix is not sufficient with s3. it seems that the major difference is with the exhaust components. dr. who stated that when he was on stock dp with the borla 100 octane was enough to hold hom, but when he installed a race pipe in the car 104 was required to hold hom. so those that are running full 3" exhausts are going to have a more difficult time holding hom with only w/i than those on stock exhaust.

i have a plan that should allow me to use 93+w/i and hold hom with no problems on a full custom 3" catless turboback. i'm hoping to get the w/i system in a month or two before the season is over. the kit that i'm looking at is a little more customized than most people are using and as such a little more expensive, but i think it will be worth it. i'm also waiting to see the stage 2 kit from devil's own and see how it does...

no, it wouldn't hurt... but in the winter, you may wish to switch back to the stock heat range plug (if you drive the car in the winter)
