Don't use anything other than Mobil 1 or Amsoil 100% synthetic. Regular oils will break down from the heat of the turbo...It will cost more but your car will last longer...if you get the oil changed at the dealer, they should put Mobil 1 in automatically, but I'd check to make sure. I took my own oil in last time...[sm=smiley4.gif]

Yes, Mobil 1 is fine. It meets or exceeds the spec, so it cannot be used to hurt your warannty.

As far as the free tires, hmmm, I would do some checking there. I recently recieved a flyer from my dealer offering up to %30 off list with a fourth tire free. Since my Pilot Sports are ready to be replaced, I called my dealer.

"Michelen Pilot Sports, are you sure those are the original tires, sir?"

"Yes, they are, I bought the car new"

"Hmmm, can't get those, only thing I can get in that size is Eagle RSA's."

Since I knew from my Tirerack research that the Eagles RSAs are a big step down, I bailed.

I got my first two (Bridgestone Potenza Pole Position SO3s) from the Rack. Great tires, just finished a 1400 mile, three day run from MD to IN and back. Rears go on next week.

Point is, they are probably offering up no name tires like Pep Boys offers on the 4 for $100 deal. Not worth having them do your oil changes for maybe $50-$80 bucks if you spec the synthetic, which you should, turbos are TOUGH on oil.

Dusty, check the recommended oil addendum (should have gotten it in the mail) where they switched the recommended from Mobil 1 10W30 to regular. Seems that since they used 5W30 dino oil for the emmisions or MPG runs, thats what they have to spec. So the dealer will not put the M1 in unless you foot the difference or bring your own. I have not seen an 04 book, but that's what they did to 03s. Maybe they did the 04 testing with Mobil.

My '04 manual says Mobil 1 synthetic. So did the dealer. I heard that they went to 5W-30 synthetic to pass the EPA..[sm=smiley9.gif]

Front page.

So either they just have not sent the note for 04s, or redid the testing with Mobil 1. In any case, the Mobil 1 is the stuff. If they do it, make damn sure they use the Mobil 1.

Under the super duper maintenance plan I got talked into, the first 4 or 5 oil changes are on the house...I may keep 5 quarts in the trunk until I see what oil they try to put in it. If it's anything else than synthetic, I'm popping the trunk lid....[sm=smiley17.gif]

Just check. I know my dealer told me neither the KDWs (stock 04) or the Pilot Sports ( stock 03) were in his system. I don't think the 04s have been around long enough to tell, but the max we are seeing from the Pilots are about 20-25. A few freaks eating them up in like 12 or lasting til 30, but that is not the norm.
