Default Best all season Hp tires under $100?

Personal experiences welcome and valued from SRT owners.
Some I'm looking at may also be Hp summer not necessarily all season. I will be getting snow tires.
What I like by what I've read; BFG G force sports, Kumho ecsta 712, Avon tech 550&500, Fuzion HRI/ZRI. Can't find a whole lot of comparative or price data on Falkens or Nitto.
I dont know, what do you guys/gals like and why?
Remember, under 100 or not much over. I know big money buys great tires but I'm looking for bang for the buck.

The best HP all season tires I've had were the Bridgestone Potenza RE 950's I had put on my '99 Neon R/T. They easily out handle the Michelin Pilot Sports and they track beautifully in the snow, it was easily stuck when trying to initially get going in fresh snow on an uphill with the 5-spd and no LSD, but once you were rolling and/or on the road it was fantastic. You could even play around a bit without any problems, you could give it alot of gas and spin the tires all over the place, but as soon as you let up on the gas it would immediately grab and track perfectly, unlike the stock BF Goodrich G-Force T/A KDW2's which will float across any amount of snow even without being provoked. The RE 950's grab like velcro on both dry and wet surfaces as well, they grab well enough that my R/T could stay glued to cars with higher g's and better handling and the R/T only had the RE 950's and a front strut tower brace. They are also a really great looking tire as well.

If your looking for the best performing tires and need not worry about snow ever, then I would go with the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS D3's.

Tire Rack Has dunlop fm901's for 80 $ right now - it is a very good deal. The tires are a little noisy, like the kdw's, and not too good in the snow, but otherwise, dry, rain, and cornering - they are pretty good. Very stiff sidewall, too with reinforcement and rim protection.

I just put on toyo proxes t1s's and they are real nice so far. From what I hear they are incredible in the rain, too. If you can get up to around 130, they are a great deal, too.

Also, check out the hankook ventus rs2 z212 def. competes with the fastest tires for 99$or 299$- it is supposed to be absolutely incredable in the grip dept. and maybe even decent in the wet - 200 treadwear, though ( I don't mind that - I am used to replacing them quick on this car, anyway).

Looking real hard today at the Fuzion ZRI. I know they are not all season, but they are available, have good reviews on tire rack and meet my price and performance requirement. I can also get a Ventus tire (Hankook-Pep Boys) for a little less but am not too sure about them.
I should also tell ya. These are going on new 16x7 prolines style 950 (Pep Boys close out). 199 for 4 wheels! New! A deal I couldn't pass up. Sure they aren't tracklites, but this way, I can get a taller, wider tire (225-55-16) and maybe gain some grip, ride and rim protection. And they look good! Also, I can shelve the stockers before I bend them for that 30 year restoration. LOL- I'll have to get a pic posted. As I said before, this being Mi. I am getting dedicated snows and putting them on junkyard steelies for the winter. That should look pretty MadMax-ish- nasty rusty black rims on my oh so black car.
:-)

For what its worth, the PepBoys wintermaster tires are excellent snow tires and are cheap. I have run them on my old truck for going on three years and they are not worn badly at all.

You are definitely going to lose a good deal of cornering performance, that is almost an inch taller sidewall, but if you aren't worried about that, you might like the tall sidewall for straight line performance. I wouldn't do the ventus. Fuzion is a good tire, and I can't say anything bad about tire rack, for sure. You will get the ride and rim protection you mentioned, but do you want to sac. and give the car more understeer in turns?

See following spec.
Specification/Sidewall/Radius/Diameter/Circumference/Revs/Mile/Difference
205/50-17 4.0in 12.5in 25.1in 78.8in 804 0.0%
225/55-16 4.9in 12.9in 25.7in 80.9in 783 2.7%

You aren't quite optimized, and will lose a little torque. the strut perch will be real close, too, depending on the offset, and if the wheel clears the caliper(the thing is big). The tires are the wrong size, don't buy 'em - who said to get a 55? Check it out:

Specification/Sidewall/Radius/Diameter/Circumference/Revs/Mile/Difference
205/50-17 4.0in 12.5in 25.1in 78.8in 804 0.0%
225/50-16 4.4in 12.4in 24.9in 78.1in 811 -0.8%

Get 50's if you can, that is the right size.

One definite positive on the wheels, if they fit, even if you don't like them, you can use them for nice drag radials on the strip.

I know the acr runs 16's - but - they are 45 profile, and the car is re-calibrated for it.

Also - other tires to look at in 50 at tire rack -

Bridgestone re 750 - $123.
Yok. Avs ES 100 - $85
Fuzion ZRi - $73
Kumho Ecsta Sport - $74
Kumho Ecsta MX - $115

Bf Good. G Force spt. - $65

I put the ones I would consider in red.

Either way whatever you choose to do - good luck. It will be nice to keep the stockers clean - mine look like crap after a year of driving.

if you're going to be using snow tires then a 3 season tire or a high performance summer would be ok. have you looked at the toyo proxy t1r? very nice tire. it's a cross between a street tire and a dr. good grip on those suckers. i'm not sure of the price though.....

BFG G-force T/A. New tire out from them, but it is three season. Awesome tire on dry, decent on wet.

Well I did it, and I'm very pleased so far. Thanks for the inputs, but you can all stop burning valuable time on this post.
I got my rims from Pep boys last night, A smoking deal for sure. I did look at the Ventus tire they had, but then went to the Local Firestone dealer that had the Fuzion ZRI's. The deciding factor was being able to get a z rated tire for only 20 dollars more for the set. I had the wheel test fitted for clearance. They are a 16x7. No problems, lots of clearance and no hubcentric ring needed. I showed the installer the clearance issue with the spring perch and tire and asked to be able to look at it once he had one tire mounted. He said no problem. I did go with a 225 55 16 tire and yes it IS CLOSE, but it fit like a glove. So had the whole set put on. I knew full well the consequences of a taller sidewall, but it turns out to be everything I was trying to acheive. The drawbacks being less crisp response and the wider tire having a tendancy to follow truck ruts a little more. Everything else is a plus. The overall dia. is almost identicle. The width is about 1 inch more, the total grip is at least equal, the ride is quieter and smoother. The Fuzion also has the rim protector bead. The clearance after driving with the tire heated up was even less than when cold but still does not rub. Overall, I'm very happy. The width of the tire looks so much better from the rear and the Fuzions have a nice look anyway. The only thing I know alot of people in this crowd would not like is the slightly retro look with a smaller wheel and taller tire. I like the way 18's look too actually, but I know I can not live with them. The real world roads with potholes, railroad tracks and whatever else seal that deal for me. I cant believe I haven't bent the stock rims already. I'll try to get pics posted. They look pretty good I think. Of course, I'm an old muscle car guy, and I like big meats.
