The EVO is based on the Lancer.
The EVO is based on the Lancer.
the Evo is another generation of the DSM/Eclipse. If researched the evo uses an Eclipse motor with better timing/compression/etc...
I say the evo is a piece of crap because..it has crazy turbo lag thus my brother owns one...second i got killed by an M3...its highly overrated, but i do say it can turn those corners! The intake tube, well it sucks, it pops out now and then. Causing the car to die when in high boost! Nothing dealer can do but swap it for a new one! kinda G@Y!! but i still enjoy driving it! And i love it cause its super light! but yet a little to bouncey on the road..but hey that car is all in all great!!

Anyway. To dOmestIc_rIce. Is the evo crap or is it great ? ?
I think the SRT4 is a great peice of crap too. Fast but ugly.

RE: 2005 srt-4 vs new mitsubishi eclipse
BTW Chrysler and mitsubishi remedied the problem w/ you beloved 63t motor and replacing it w/ a 2.4 srt-4 based (supposedly) in upcoming evos ...might be due to the fact that diamler designed a monstrously tunable engine. Of course mitsubishi might change engine a little bit...and supras are nice except for the fact that they are not all that...for the money it takes to tune one right and the cost of parts makes it ridiculous. Dodge went through the hassle to tune it for everybody else...and its cheaper...which in my book blows away the still going for 20,000 dollars and up SUPRAS that arent worth the time and the money of turning it into a race car.

You can throw a brick faster than Mitsu's New Eclipse...
I dont understand how a car can be this heavy and not have any room or aceleration.
Ive owned & driven a '76 & a '78 Chrysler Newyorkers when I was in High School (showing my age a lil there)
that were heaver, a hell of alot roomier & yet FASTER than the new eclipse.
It might have had something to do with the monster 440ci motors in them but I could fit 5 people & me in it and we all had plenty of room. Plus I felt like a limo driver at times [8D]
4800lb New Yorker 350HP (Standard) 4752lbs = 1 HP per every 13.57 Lb
3800lb Eclipse 263Hp (3.8L 6cyc "GT" Model) 3538lbs (Dry Weight) 1HP per every 13.45 Lb
162Hp (2.4l "Slugiest" Model) 3307lbs (Dry Weight) 1 HP per every 20.41 Lb (SLUG!)
2870 SRT-4 (230HP Std.) 1 HP per 12.478Lb
Remembering my "Captain Days" driving boats.

I might have to find one to restore.
