Ridicule at the track...
Oddly enough, I hang out at SVTperformance.com, which I joined a while back to help out a young man with more money than sense with an 04 Cobra he had. You can tell there, just by what they post, which ones are the ones you talk about
But I stay becuase luckily, at that site, those weiners are outweighed by the real car guys, who smack down the posers. I just provide facts once in a while.
"Man, I waz racing dis heah STR neon, right, and my 94 GT was kicking his AZZZZZZZZZZZZ and then he hit his speed limiter @ 110 and I walked away"
"I raced this SRT-4, he told me he had Stage 2 with 8 injectors, pushing 30psi with a 150 shot on top, pulling 10.2, his name was andy. Luckily for me, my 02 GT was running strong, and the ricer stood no chance"

I go to the track ALOT. I don't get that from the "real" racers. Most of the guys that modify their cars and bring them to the track are cool and even show an interest in the car.
I DO get flak from the (usually Mustang owners) guys that bring their mostly unmodded (some have exhaust/intake) cars to the track. Typcially it'll be the first and only time I see the guy at the track. They'll talk smack like they know what they're doing and then fish-tail their Mustang Cobra the length of the track to a mid 15 sec 1/4 mile after a whopping 1.2xx reaction time.

The Mustang guys (seems like a trend) were there, and had some serious issues with us having our cars there. Long story short, we ended up having to high tail it out of there to avoid fighting 20 or more angry muscleheads. One actually tried to reach in my car and go for the keys(pretty funny, I thought, as I drove with his arm in my hand for 20 feet I finally decided to give it back to him since it was his arm
). So - I might add to my previous statement, that "real" car/track enthusiasts are all for the little SRT-4. It is just those PIA muscleheads that tend to get their panties in a bunch. You know - the type doing burnouts in the parking lot to pump their ego's.

hahaha wtf, is andy still around or suttin?
kinda funny story:
On my first night at the track, this guy comes up to me and was talking to me about my car. He later brought his car by for me to see.
Hmmm,,,,,how do I say this?
Okay,,,he had this Kia Sophia.
Man,,,,want to talk about ricey looking, this car was all that. He had wheels, but they weren't like custom wheels. They were some kind of stock wheels that he bought off of ebay that he painted black. Man,,,they were ugly. He had the car lowered, and he had tried to make it look good, but whew,,,,,,it was just bone ugly. Now,,,let me say this. I am biased, because I can't imagine any one wanting to buy a kia.
Okay,,,,,I'm curious what he has done to the car, because he is at the track. He hasn't done ANY engine mods....None. No,,,,I take that back, he had some kind of a special air filter or something on it.
I look inside the car and there is no back seat. Huh?
Seriously,,,he had taken the back seat and passenger seat out.
Weight reduction????? What else could it be?
I'm curious now, because I want to know what he runs through the quarter. Maybe this car IS something special. I go up to watch him run when his time comes. I swear to you, the car looks like it comes off the line like a Geo Metro. I swear,,,it actually looks like it is in pain as it is running down the track. When he finishes up, he posts an 18.5 through the quarter. Hmmm.
Well,,,a short time later, we are in line to run again, and he has got the hood up on his car. I walk over there and talk to him. He is a little disappointed in his time that he ran. That's like saying you would be a little disappointed if your son was having a sleep over at Michael Jackson's house. Anyhow, I walk over to him and we began to talk.
It's still hotter than hell outside, and he has the hood up on his car making an adjustment on the air breather. He tells me that his time was a little bad because the car wasn't getting enough air. Here he is, with his hood up and working on his car, and sweat is dripping off of him.
I'm thinking to myself, "why in the hell is he working on his car after posting an 18.5 time???" If the air breather was completely clogged up,,,and starving for air, it still wouldn't mean he could get the car down into the 16 second time frames. I'm thinking, "buddy,,,,if you will work on that car, after posting that time, in the blistering heat like this, then you have motor oil in your veins, because I would have packed my *** up and headed back to my air conditioned house."
There are racers and then there are guys who are racers. This guy is the latter. Cracks me up when I think about him taking the seats out of his car.

No bad stuff. They either walk on by cause they don't know anything about this car, or, they give the thumbs up and want to talk because they do know what the car is. I have not been accused of driving a ricer. When I went to the track, I parked with the Buick turbo guys and fit right in. Even got some potentially good tips. :-D
