Ridicule at the track...
Does anyone else on here get as much ridicule as I do about their "pathetic, riced-out Neons" when they head out for a night at the track?
Everytime I visit my local dragstrip (in hick-central Alberta), my car gets all but stoned by the other racers and spectators there. I've gotten my car to consistently run in the mid to low 13's with the mods I currently have (except for Friday night when I scored a 15 second E.T. @100 mph since I got the lane that a jet-powered funny car just ran down lol) but people still point, laugh, and generally make fun of my car!

Interesting.
I didn't get that kind of response at all. I went for the first time last night, and I had a couple of people say some pretty neat things about my car. One guy came up to me and said, "yeah,,,that thing has 233 at the wheels and has a LSD. I was like, "how do you know so much about it?" He said that he was a sports compact enthusiast. On a sidenote. He was driving a Kia, though.
Another guy come up with his hand held video camera and taped it for a minute. On my third drubbing, I was lined up against a firebird that was modded out, and the guys buddies were telling him, "don't let that thing beat you." He drilled me by about four car lengths. Overall though,,,,,I thought they were pretty decent. But then again, I'm not a regular there, and it was my first time, so they could have been being nice.

i too have never had a problem at the track. most people ask me about the car and what i have done to it, what i run in it. friday night i even had a couple of the old timers cheering me on! i've gotten very good responses from most people at the track, never a problem. unless of course you consider that at street nights people refuse to line up against me as a problem.....

I go to the track ALOT. I don't get that from the "real" racers. Most of the guys that modify their cars and bring them to the track are cool and even show an interest in the car.
I DO get flak from the (usually Mustang owners) guys that bring their mostly unmodded (some have exhaust/intake) cars to the track. Typcially it'll be the first and only time I see the guy at the track. They'll talk smack like they know what they're doing and then fish-tail their Mustang Cobra the length of the track to a mid 15 sec 1/4 mile after a whopping 1.2xx reaction time.
