Default I wonder

I was driving to work today and I saw this cop tooling around in his huge assed, gase guzzling car, and it made me wonder why police forces never got together with the Dodge corporation and talked to them about the possibility of making the SRT a squad car. Four doors,,,,plenty of power,,,,,good gas mileage. Looks to me like this would have made a great police car. I wonder what one would look like with lights and a siren on it....LOL.

have someone chop shop it.....as far as I can tell ford and gm seem to take up most govt contracted vehicles...very rarely do you see dodge vehicles w/ law enforcement anymore... I do however see a lot of military using dodge cars for recruitment offices and officer vehicles.

Some departments have used fwd, but most still have a rwd requirement. Why? Not sure, but now that Dodge is making rwd, you could possibly see more Dodge cop cars again.

Yep, cops love big RWD cars. For the crash ratings if nothing else. Since Dodge hasnt offered one for quite some time, they are not out there. The federal govenrment, as I understand it, contracts with all three big makers to purchase about the same amounts. With different cars/trucks fitting different requirements.

So recruiters, with high miles and no need for power, get the Dodges. FBI and other cop types get the big sedans. Now this is about to change.

V8, rwd, ESP, MDS, a lot of the SRTs upgraded stuff. Of course, urban depts can get the V6 for better mileage.

We delivered a half dozen Intrepid police interceptors last year. The town I live in bought two of them, and they love em. In fact, they wanted more but we couldnt get any. Every cop I talked to said it kicked the Crown Vic in acceleration and top speed. The RI state police have unmarked intrepids, I think they were seized in arrrests because they are just regular ES's.

GLHS.....that Charger looks awesome. I'd crap my pants if one of those appeared in my mirror. Is that really a Trooper's car?

I really wish they wouldn't sell police packages. Keep the cars exclusive. I bet there will be thousands of LX police cars out there soon. They are cheaper than the Fords, and perform better. (obviously). Do you really think the police will buy a Ford 500, with a 3.0L v6??? I don't.

I just looked at the subject of this thread "I Wonder"

" I wonder what the cops pay for a gallon of gas"

They are making Charger and Magnum police interceptor packages. The Charger is likely to do much better than the Magnum. They're offering it with the Hemi, I cant remember which website I saw this on, but it is going to happen. Stupid Vics. I cant stand them, though it is easy to tell when ones behind you at night, versus a pissed off Charger. That'll take some getting used to.
