Default Mopar performance parts warranty

Most of us are under the impression that NO performance parts have a warranty on them. Well, I was at a meeting for the DCX NorthEast buisness center last thursday with the warranty dept. They handed out the usual pamphlet on what modifications to watch out for.

I asked the question about warranty on performance parts. There IS actually a warranty on these parts. It is not written anywhere, but a performance engine conrtoller has a 12month/12,000 mile warranty. That is just one example. Not all parts have a warranty, but alot do.

Please, if anyone has a warranty issue with Mopar performance, contact me and I'll see what I can do.

by performance engine controller i'm guessing that means ecu in english? as in stage kits?

although i believe that you were told this, i don't believe that it's necessarily true. if there was a warranty then they wouldn't write no warranty on it. and people wouldn't have such a hard time getting things warrantied when there is a problem. mopar has been kinda shady when it comes to the warranty issue....not too sure what to make of it.

I believe it does say as a disclaimer on any Mopar Performance parts ordered that any type of warranty, is that issued by the parts manufacturer, if indeed it does apply.

Says that on the Viper Shift **** I just picked up from Dodge the other day, says it on my Stage 1 box, and every other part Ive ordered from them. They all have that general disclaimer, so I believe it.

so then the warranty would be from say flight systems or borla, the respective manufacturer of the part, not from mopar performance directly, correct?

Thats what I took it as.......because when stuff went wrong with some of the Stage 1s in 03 or 04 I cant remember, Flight Systems fixed everything.

When PCMs are mailed back for warranty, they're mailed out to flight systems, I labeled quite a few from Caravans and sent them out this week while I was bored at the dealer.

What we were told is that there are some "hidden" warranty's on some parts. This comes right from the head of warranty operations of DCX warranty for the North East zone.

There are lots of hidden recalls and warrantys out there, trust me. All I wanted to let you all know is I can check with this particular person anytime there is an issue.

He did state "Engine conrtollers have a 12/12 warranty, and it's not in writing.

i wonder why they don't make this public, especially since there has been such a huge deal made about the fact that there is no warranty. a lot of people are refusing to buy mopar performance parts solely for that reason. i bet it would help things out quite a bit. odd that they would hide it.....

I am actually working with the warranty manager to get a better definition of what their "warranty" is. My district rep wants us to sign up for the Mopar Speed shop program. I won't until I get some better answers.

Car companys are really sleazy about this stuff. In the end, it's the legal dept that makes the decisions. Damn lawyers.
I have seen TSB's disappear because the legal dept said all the cars would need to be recalled if the bulliten was issued.

I have my factory warranty with only about 3000 miles and i want to atleast grab a stage 1 upgrade from the dealership... I had planned on lettting them installing and footing the extra bill just to keep my warrenty... anyone know if thats possible... Ive been told by a friend who owns an srt as well that that the stage 1 wont null the 32000 mile warranty the car comes with... Just wondering if that was entirely correct

Ripsiguy,
I want to add either the stage1 or stage2 w/o toys but am concerned that it will affect my warranty. I even popped for the extended warranty (7 yr). Since you are in the "biz" what are your thoughts. Harley screaming eagle parts seem to have the same issues.
