hey how you guys doing, i recently bought a 2005 srt and i want to make it fast, i know some about cars but not enough i was wondering if anyone could help me with some advice with what mods to start out with no matter what the price is. i would greatly appreciate this very much.

If price is not an issue - get a Stage 3 kit with turbo toys, and the stage 3r coilovers to start. Then get wider wheels and tires, swaybars, endlinks, rear tension struts, strut tower braces f&r, a 3" turboback exhaust, a direct fit higher cap intercooler(but don't get one that means you'll have to pull the crash bar), get motor mounts, urethane bushings for the suspension and chassis all around, wildwood or stoptech brakekit...then move on to cosmetics if they matter to you. At that point your car will be as fast as most anything you'll come up against on the road, including vipers, ferraris...or go bigger turbo than s3r if you aren't concerned about driveability - then you'll be faster than just about anything, period.

Funny,,,when I bought this car, I didn't realize how much more there would be that I wanted to buy for it. Good grief,,,,,I am wanting to take a 20,000 dollar car, and by the time I am done with it, spend as much as I would have on a yacht.
Guilty pleasure.....even though I don't understand what half the aftermarket guages in a car are for, I would love to have a bunch of them in my car because I think it looks cool as hell.
Things that drive me nuts about this car:
Wheels. Why wheels? Too many choices. I want wheels, but what color wheels??? What type of wheels??? I didn't think about my daughters outfit that she would wear home from the hospital when she was born as much as I have thought about having the right wheels. I didnt' think about my outfit for my wedding as much as I do about my wheels. I don't think about anything as much as I do about what kind of wheels I should get for my car.
Want to talk about irony???? I have never, in my LIFE, wanted the photoshop software. Buy hey,,,guess what I want now??? Yep,,,photoshop. Know why? Only because I could then use the software and try out different wheels for my car.
Wheels...freaking wheels. There are zillions of choices on wheels. Do you realize how many wheels I have looked at since I got this car??? Black wheels,,,bronze wheels, gold wheels, polished wheels, chrome wheels. Wheels, wheels, wheels.
What if I choose the wrong wheels???? The wheel choice just has to be right. You can't make a mistake with wheels. They say that the biggest purchase in your life is a house. Well,,,they are damned wrong. It's wheels. If you screw up your house purchase, big deal. Houses appreciate and you can sell them without taking a loss. But the wrong wheels and you are losing money when you sell them. No room for errors with wheels. One shot and you are done.

Just as sure as the sun will rise tomorrow, as soon as you pull your car off the lot, you will be telling youself, "damn,,,I should have bought the silver one." Again,,,too many choices. Choices only make misery. Henry Ford had it figured out. Make the model T in black. I will guarantee you that NO ONE got home with their model T and looked at their wife and said, "do you think the model T would have looked better in silver?" Nope.....didn't happen, because ole Henry was smart to not give choices. Whoever said that choices solved anything was clearly wrong.

Reminds me of me and my best friend when I tried to find rims for my car....we must've went through every god damn rim in the world until I finally came up with the ones I liked in the first place. Then we werent sure they'd look right on the car because no one has them. Well we found out why no one has them....they don't FIT!!! I have 5mm spacers now and you couldnt fit a piece of paper between my caliper and wheel....but thats okay cause I love my rims.
Then came time for Paul to buy his rims. Anything and everything he wanted they weren't the right size, the right offset, the right color, they just weren't....the rims. Then he ended up getting wheels in Silver that he really wanted in gunmetal with a polished lip and come to find out they looked damn good on the car....for about 3.5 weeks until the damned thing was traded in. All that hassle for almost nothing. Thats okay....the wheels were sold and onwards it goes
So yes....probably the most difficult decision Ive made yet for my car....is what type of rims. 18" Katana Destinys in Hyperblack with a Polished Lip. No they dont fit SRT-4s....yes my calipers were damaged putting them on, and uh huh so were the wheels, and I absolutely have 5mm spacers. Nope cant fit a piece of paper between there.
But you know what? Im the only one in the damned country with em, and try as these two posers in RI would like to copy the look and feel of my car.....Lucius is original.
So when looking for wheels....originality is key.

Wordslayer, did you know you could go to Tire racks website and try out thier rims on a pic of your Srt? If not, try it out. It's a cool feature.

thanks alot posthondaremoval i appreciate all the information but what if i only want to buy the stage 2 kit would i still get the same oher parts or are there different parts i have to get.
