13's! Stock! WoooooHoooo!
I left my camera in my car. Ill email the video to you tomorrow PSIChick. The noise is BLATANTLY obvious when the engine is cold. Maybe Ill get a better video tomorrow where you can actually SEE the turbo. I dont know if its because of how he was driving the car today, or something else. And I was never told of any break-in specifications for the turbo, if there were any.
Does anyone elses turbo make noise on startup??? Like metal banging metal, but more of a clunk than a ping. He has 93 in him at all times, hes always had Full synthetic, right now he has Mobil1 0w40 for winter.....he had 5w30 before that. I just dont ****ng understand....
But to WOT shift, miss 3rd (wouldnt go in) and completely over-rev, would that **** me over AGAIN??
I guess it could be an oil supply problem, but Im beyond upset right now. The new turbo hasnt even been in for 1000 miles and its already acting just like the other one did. Im gonna get on it in 5th tomorrow and see if it starts bucking and fluttering under boost....then Ill know for a FACT that its gone. *sigh* Why me?

My car did make a weird screech one cold morn about 2months ago as I got to the end of my driveway and had a white-ish vapor coming out from under the hood, but it stopped by the time I could get out and open the hood. Very weird. Never before or since. Not sure what it was, but everything has been working ok. I still wonder about it.
Anyway, I would say any noise like you are describing is not normal. As for a break in, I dont know of one, but when I replace a turbo on the big trucks, the instructions do say to prime it with oil first. I don't think his missed shift really did anything to the turbo that it should not be able to handle. I'd bet either oil supply, or bad new turbo. If they have to pull it again, make sure they check the pressure and return oil lines/passages.
Man I feel bad for ya.....woman.

Went to Martin Mi Sat. Test and tune. Track was busy. Temps mid 50's and it was overcast. Power yes. Traction no. Ran a string of 14 oh's. Was getting bummed. Thought I may have to finish the year not getting into the 13's. I was spinning badly in first every time sticking to my 2000 rpm launch technique. I decided to just go out really mild once, get the clutch all out early and roll into the gas and let the engine do the work. Also let my tires down from a previous 25 psi to 23 psi. Presto! 13.95! YEAH! I couldn't believe it worked so good! Better yet, spanked a built v-8 s-10 truck in the process. 9 runs made, 3 in the 13's. Best et; 13.86. Worst et; 14.88 when I totally blew the 2-3. Best mph; 99.52. Best 60'; 2.12. Best rt; .5329 (on a 500 tree) Race weight with me in car and 1/4 tank of gas was 3125. I'll try to get the timeslip posted, but it is pretty light ink.
Engine & ECU stage 0.
9000 miles.
Orig plugs +wires.
5w30 Mobil.
Orig tranny fluid.
Orig airfilter & box.
Orig exhaust.
I do have non Oem 16x7 rims w/225-55-16 Fuzion ZRI's on the car.
I'm stoked!
Must be because it's a 2004.........................Just kidding!
That was for PSI Chick.
But it is. ;-D

Pressurecooker, What year is your car? You said it was an 04 but I couldn't tell if you were kidding or not. Anyway, those are awesome times. I have a 2005. The best I have been able to run was 14.2. That was completeley stock on stock tires. Now I have a k&n filter and still, stock tires. Why can't I break into the 13s? Are the 05s really that much slower? If I would have known the 05s were slower I would have bought an 04. Does anyone have any tips for breaking into the 13s stock? I would appreciate it. Thanks
My tires help, but the formula is as PSI said. If you can get your 60 foot down (which is all about the launch) to 2.1xxx, and you shift at redline or just before, you should be able to get into the 13's. Some tips I have are; do a burnout but dont get crazy. Street tires dont need to be real hot. Mostly, I do it because they water all the way across the burnout area and I can not drive around it. I burn rolling and in 2nd gear. I stop well short of the line and do at least 2 good dry hops. I line up in exactly the same line as the last car did. I stage shallow and let the clutch pedal up off the floor just short of engagement. I hold the r's steady at whatever rpm I'm launching at. DO NOT CONTINUOUSLY "BLIP" THE THROTTLE AT THE LINE! The key to my going faster was taking off at a lower rpm, (12 to 1500 rpm) and letting the clutch all out then rolling the gas to the floor. Almost like a normal street start. If you're spinning on the launch, you're losing time. Figure out how not to spin, but be able to get it to full throttle as quickly as possible.
Of course you need to "adjust" the tire pressures.
I only wot shift the 3-4. Which may explain why I've yet to break 100 mph.
Yes, my car is a 2004.
