Everytime I honk my horn, laser beams shoot out of my car!
Okay, I know it sounds crazy guys, but I'm serious!
Since I rarely ever use my horn, it took until now for me to realize that every time I honk it, my radar/laser detector goes ape**** and screams a laser warning at me! What in the h-e-double-hockey-sticks is goin' on here?
P.S. Could I possibly use this as some form of weapon? The drivers in my town are out of control- it would be nice to fry a few of them! j/k lol

I had the same type of issue with my LESBARU. The detector would go off every time the boost would come in full tilt. I cleaned the power outlet connections and
relocated the detector.
Did this just start happening? Was the detector OK before?

And in the next episode, Kirk takes out the Klingons with his new SRT-4 Galactic model. lol Wouldn't it be nice...
Funny - I noticed laser falses occasionally, and now that I think of it, one or two have happened when passing and someone did something stupid and made me honk. Wierd. What detector are you using.

That is very interesting. Maby the horn is spiking voltage over into that circuit? Try a different power source if possible.
A horny SRT4, sounds like fun.

It might be a voltage spike. I have had it happen in an 93 Olds achevia, my 98 neon, 85 and 86 camaro, and my 93 cherokee. Its weird, it has happened with different brand detectors.
ok i have to laugh at this. at first i thought you were going to say you have a greddy type s and it went off everytime you hit your horn. it didn't make much sense but i thought it because two of the local guys have the type s and we always say that they play laser tag on the highway. if you listen to it, it sounds like the old laser games from nintendo lol

Hi again!
I am running the Escort Passport 8500 X50 as my radar/laser detector. I'm not sure if it has just started doing this, since I usually only use the horn in the winter time (when I don't carry the detector with me)- thus, I just don't know. You guys could be onto something with the voltage spike though. The 8500 has a built in voltage meter, so perhaps I will turn it on and see if I get a change of readings when I honk the horn...

You know come to think of it you might be on to something Dart. In my neon my radar has a setting that will only alert you at X MPH, now its not connected to the spedo or tach, so it has to be picking up voltage from the alternator, that just might be it.
