If you need anything for heat related issues, check this place/link out:Design Engineering Inc. They have all kinds of heat wraps, wire sleeves, intake tube wraps, turbo wraps, coolant additives, intercooler sprayers, etc.

Interesting thoughts on "expert systems"- my wife's a PhD in the medical informatics field and she deals extensively with expert systems, logistic regressions, neural networks, and so forth, and I have to say that that is probably the best explanation of an expert system I as a simpleton have ever heard. However, I think she would disagree that this is one, since they are operating systems that are able to learn and make inferences on their own based on knowledge input. This is totally off topic so I'll stop here- I think I'm just being argumentative- I'm terribly impressed with your explanation, though, and agree that this forum is a goldmine of practical information, so I hope you'll forgive me...

Not at all Barney. That description came from the link, since my admittedly almost non-existant knowledge led me to a more accurate description than I could come up with. And it does mention "Some expert systems are able to improve their knowledge base and develop new inference rules based on their experience with previous problems. " Sorry, I love a good discussion myself

The bad part above is my own poor undestanding, I have not kept up with them.

Sweet!!
a fellow Aviator...
AH-1Z...Longbow? UH-1Y? What type of Huey is that?

ORIGINAL: glhs837

I've wrenched on

AH-1W
UH-1N
SH-60B/F/
HH-60H
SH-3
SH-2
CH-53
CH-46

As a contracted maintainence tech at Rotary Wing Test Directorate at Pax River. don't ever complain about your fire bottles, other platforms have it much worse.

Now I'm a engineering tech, get to play with even more the new AH-1Z and UH-1Y, MV-22, KC-130J, and more Best job in the world!!!!!!!! For years I cursed those buggers that designed the stuff I worked on. I finally have the chance to talk right to them and tell them our side. 0200, in a driving rain, maybe 38 degrees, flashlight in your teeth is different than 1400 on a nice sunny ramp.

The new four-bladed variants, referred to as "Upgrades"

It does have the Longbows radar though.

Not these guys, they are still in testing. But while somewhat limited by engine power and such, the currently fielded helos are still formidable aircraft. I got to be on a range at Quantico and watch a Huey empty two rocket pods from about 200 feet up and 100 feet to the left. Same trip, a Cobra shot off one rocket pod, four Tows, and some 20mm from the nose. Incredible. the Cobras have a HSS which slaves the nose gun to the gunners helmet. Look at it, pull trigger, it dies. All this tech useless without the Marines who load it/fix it/fly it. Good men and women. Bless them!!!

And please no e-mails about my bloodthirsty, warmongering ways. While I wish all this effort could be put into bettering mankinds lot, til folks stop trying to hurt me and mine, lock and load.
