maybe where you are. around here you have to wear a helmet anytime you go down the track. doesn't matter if you run a 9 or a 17. you must have a helmet on or you will get kicked out.

I just couldn't imagine how that track hasn't lost its *** letting anyone run w/o a helmet. I think it is pretty stupid since there is always the factor that you could be lining up against just about anyone. During a test and tune session. A 16 second Honda could easily get totalled by the 12 second GTO running in the other lane if he loses control.

BTW, Amy - Coyoteyz13 is cool in my book. I would definitely not group him in with the people I mentioned in the negative. Sharp, nice guy. Met him down there. Doubt he would race without one, either. (Don't blush, Kevin)

I think it is a NHRA rule, but I guess it could be track to track. I always wear my helmet. I think you should have to wear it all of the time.

P.S. I can't spell. helmit[&:]

i agree that i think everyone should always have to wear a helmet. there's always the possibility that the idiot next to you will screw up and hit you. and even if a track tells me that i don't have to wear it, i always do anyway.

a good helmet is an investment that i think anyone that goes to the track should definetly do. they're not that expensive if you think about it...it's 2005, so a snell 05 wil last you until 2015. that's 10 years of use for $200, or $20 a year. you'll spend more than that renting helmets in a single season anyway, and it's much more sanitary to have your own. not to mention that those helmets that the tracks rent out make you look like a fool! i got my helmet off ebay about two years ago. it's a snell 2000, i paid $70 for it (KBC sn00 DOT). so i get 7 years for $70. how can you complain? definetly something any serious racer should think about getting.
