Winter Words for the Wheel Wise
just so ya all know.......
15" steelies from a 2002 Neon will not fit the Srt-4.
They fit on the back just fine but hit the brake calipers on the front.

Good point.
LILsparkplug, maybe, with winter on its way, you should sticky this or start a thread about cheap winter setups that will work on the srt-4.
I think PT criuser steelies clear it: anyone able to confirm?
Also beetle steelies may as well.

Stratus Steelies off of a 95-2000 will work also, I have them on the fronts, but you need to run spacers.
I have 2002 Cavalier Steelies on the rear, they wont clear the front if you pay them.
Im running 195/65R15s right now, Ill see how these tires make out, if they suck....then Ill be buying some HankookW404s.

DiscountTireDirect has a deal for SRT-4s right now. Four 15" Steel wheels (aftermarket steel), and snow tires for $420 or $390. If you call up and ask for the SRT-4 deal, they'll do it for ya.

Tire Rack can beat that deal, even with Blizzaks. You'll get your wheels and tires deliverd by UPS, mounted and balanced and ready to go on your car. I've dealt with them several times and have had excellent results. And btw, if you live in the snow belt, those summer tires combined with your horsepower is going to leave you spinning your wheels in the snow...while your aluminum wheels pit. Get winter tires on steel wheels and be happy.
And no, I don't work for Tire Rack.

Gave up on the steelies and just put a set of snows on my aluminum aftermarket 16's. Went with some directional snows from the Local Firestone dealer. The tires are called "Winterforce". They were not the cheapest I found. Those would have been the Pep Boys tires at about 275.00 for 4. As it was, I got these for 395.00 mounted and balanced with tax. I went with a 215/60/16 size. My car is not lowered and these are the absolute largest (dia.) tire you can realistically jam into the wheel well. It is important to me in Michigan to go tall as possible for ground clearance. These tires measure 26" in dia. At first they cleared everything just barely. The closest thing was the front spring perch at about 1/8th inch. I figured they may rub as the tire warmed and expanded. They did. I now have a perfect 1/4" wide, 1/8th" deep, 45 degree bevel on the inside corner of each front tire. They are done clearancing themselves now and everything is fine. They are a little whiny but that is to be expected from a true snow. I have yet to try them in the snow as I missed the first one but we got lots more on the way. Supposed to snow 4 or 5 days in a row over Thanksgiving this week starting Tuesday so I should be able to give ya a performance report. So far, so good. Nice cushy gushy snow tire ride.
BTW, the tire is supposedly a Dayton and I am still looking for a way to get a dedicated set of winter wheels, but if I don't, these wheels were very cheap at 200 for the set, so I dont feel too bad.
