It's been pointed out several times on this forum that speed costs money. If I was desparate for the fastest car in town, I could take out a mortgage on my house. But I'm not and I won't because most people have priorities. Like paying off their house (done that), setting up a retirement account (doing that) and maybe having a sporty car to tool around in (have that too). The bottom line is the SRT-4 has the most bang for the buck and some affordable mods, a decent warranty, and gets respectable gas mileage. That may not be what you're looking for, but it's what I'm looking for and I'm very happy with my choice and getting happier by the day. So, according to your posting, I'm not stupid.

I can sleep much better now!!! Thanks!!![sm=smiley20.gif][sm=smiley36.gif]

Well, good luck!! That's not bad money for a summer job. Just remember the "associated" costs like insurance for example....

I,m talking about legally running one against another, you can't do that on the streets. I'm talking about track performance where you can use slicks. If you add slicks to the Evo or STi they're probably going to run the same times, because traction isn't a problem for them in the first place. I have never claimed that stock vs. stock on the street that the SRT-4 is equal to the others. I'm just pointing out the fact that as far as power and acceleration goes they are more equal than what most think.

Who would want an F-body Camaro or Firebird when you can get a Viper. You cannot compare those with a Viper, a Viper is............well..........a Viper. Now if you were talking about getting a Vette, that's a different story. Your talking of getting and modding a Z-28 instead of an SRT-4 and kicking the crap out of it, but then it comes back to where the SRT-4 will kick the crap out of the modded Z-28 through the mountain road. Personally I would much prefer to but a '70 Challenger and mod the hell out of it and beat anything that gets next to me in a straight line. You buy a new car for two reasons, one is that it's new and the other is the warranty.

To each their own in what they want and what they get. I want the most bang for my buck, so thats why I have the cars that I have and have had. From a bang for the bucks stand point, the STi and Evo are not the way to go unless your going through those mountain roads every day or want to go off road with it. Besides, who has ever talked about running someone through some mountain roads anyway. I don't know of anyone talking about how badly that out handled some else, no one cares about that. Everyone runs straight line, either acceleration or top end, not who can out handle who.

oh. . . I dunno. There's some of us that maybe don't talk a LOT about it, but get a REAL kick in the pants outhandling everyone on the road. Especially on Highway 152 through Pacheco Pass. . . (oops said too much).

But I agree--that's what my Camaro and my Spirit R/T are for. One to kick your butt in a straight line, the other to kick your butt or come dang close to kicking it and look awefully civil while doing it.
