srt-4 or evo8?
I too like having a car that will out handle most others, but that situation rarely comes up and if it does, passing someone through curves as they are pushing their cars traction limitations is just risky as hell. If one of you looses traction it could easily be the end of both of you.[sm=smiley5.gif]
I think the AWD is just more all around fun to drive than a high powered FF setup that’s why I got what I got even without mountain roads or snow in Alabama (but I cant wait to hit those soon). As far as getting a used Viper for the price of a STI I want to see someone who would be happy for a Viper as a daily driver for more than a year without turning around and buying a $4k base civic so they can rest while driving also the Insurance, gas prices and tires alone on a viper are going to break you. They are AWESOME machines but not something I would want to drive to work everyday in. And if you want to talk price you can get a new STI for better financing than a used viper so overall you come out less.
Amen to that. Racing (or even driving above the posted speed limits in the mountains) is risky because there is usually an abundance of wildlife in the area and rock/dirt slides are common. I used to ride my Honda CB1100F in the summer up to Roger's Pass in Montana, where they recorded the coldest temp in the lower 48 states, -70 below zero on 20 Jan 1954, and I took it slow, not just because of the temps, but because you could never see around the next curve. And it was a several thousand foot drop to the valley below....[:'(]
Heck...buy my slightly modified R/T Spirit for a few thousand $ and you're neck and neck with an SXT-4. Put a couple thousand more into it and you'll walk away with extra cash as well as a fun to drive 300+ HP 13 yr old sleeper.
Just a thought.
Seriously...anyone at all interested, email me at "cbagosy@ptdprolog.net".

I would be more than happy and comfortable to drive a Viper on a daily basis, just not in the snow. The tires for my SRT-4 and Roadrunner(at least the ones I will be getting for it-BF Goodrich 325/50/15 after I get the wheels I want for it) are just as expensive. The Viper's aren't as harsh of a ride as you might think, I've driven a '94 Viper and it's great. I love performance and I love it raw and rough.[sm=smiley27.gif][sm=smiley4.gif][sm=smiley20.gif]
To all of you boasting the Lancer Evo and WRX STi's handling to be soooo superior to the SRT-4's, I have one thing to say, BS. I too thought the Evo and STi had better handling, far better actually, but I checked into it and found out different.
The SRT-4 actually handles better than the STi, but not as good as the Evo. Here are the numbers from a foreign car loving source:
'04 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo
0-60 MPH: 5.0 sec.
1/4 mile: 13.50 sec. @ 101.65 MPH
Braking 60-0 MPH: 111 ft.
Skidpad: .89 G
'04 Subaru Impreza WRX STi
0-60 MPH: 5.1 sec.
1/4 mile: 13.35 sec. @ 102.58 MPH
Braking 60-0 MPH: 113 ft.
Skidpad: .85 G
'04 Dodge SRT-4
0-60 MPH: 5.3 sec.
1/4 mile: 13.9 sec. @ 103 MPH
Braking 60-0 MPH: 112 ft.
Skidpad: .86 G
So, it would seem that they accelerate, stop and handle almost equally. The AWD giving the Evo and STi the traction advantage, but at the same time giving the SRT-4 the weight advantage. The only parts that the SRT-4 beats them both at is trap speed and top end speed. The Evo has the best handling and 0-60 MPH time. The STi only has the best 1/4 mile time. I personally would have thought that the STi would have beat the Evo at everything except braking, but I knew that they would bothe be behind the SRT-4 in trap speed and top end speed. They didn't list top end speeds for these three, but it is well known that the SRT-4 has them beat at that at least. I was never really a fan of the Evo, I always liked the STi and had even considered buying one, but I love my SRT-4 and wouldn't even consider anything else after driving it.[sm=smiley4.gif][sm=smiley2.gif]

If your mom's matching your fund's sound's like you should go out and buy a r34 skyliner granted you'll have to save 45000.00 and it's right hand drive. I'd wait till the evo 8 rs comes out it's just a evo 8 minus stereo, rear wing, color matched door handles and a couple other thing's suppose to be around 25000-27000. But it all comes down to your taste and witch car you would rather drive
If you didn't want a biased opinion, why did you ask that kind of question on this forum, Duh?...(Sorry, but that's about as smart as walking into the Piston's locker room and saying, "Go Laker's!!!")[sm=smiley29.gif]
Im not a hater or anything becasue i myself have an srt 4 but i would get the evo. that thing has gotten so many good reviews from all kinds of authorites and it has a reputation which is somewhat better than the srt-4's. and in my opinion i hate front wheel drive. launching is a bitch and with evo's 4 wheel drive thats not gonna matter. another thing. if you plan to mod the **** out of what of whatever, front wheel drive wont do you good. too much power in frontwheel drive can be dangerous and not efficient. Id pick the evo if i were you becuase you can mod the evo just as much as you could the srt4 without having to worry about frontwheel drive probs. but really its all up to you man, your call. make a wise choice.

I would go SRT-4 all the way. If you have roughly $30K to work with, then get an SRT-4 and Stage 2, then you will have tons of money left over. Plus you will be beating Evo's and STi's senseless as well as looking 10,000X better than them.[sm=smiley20.gif]
