Default I've Struck Oil

This afternoon after driving home from work, I propped open the hood to let the engine cool down after blowing a Honda something with a coffe can muffler off the road about 3 blocks from my condo. Anyway, I glanced down to see it all was still snug and tight on the $21.31 oil catch can (it was) when a amber color that I hadn't seen before caught my eye.

It was OIL in the catch can! I got my flashlight out just to make sure, and yes, there are several drops worth of oil covering the bottom of the can/bowl. It's taken less than 20 miles for it to collect. My only regret is that I didn't put it on sooner, but better late than never. Guys/gals, you may want to REALLY consider this mod, it won't make your car go faster, but it'll help the engine last longer and keep your engine cooler (keeps oil out of the intercooler). Get the GReddy model or make your own, it's the smartest thing I've done since buying a SRT-4....[sm=smiley4.gif]

I really enjoyed Bitburg Air Base and "Spang" as well. Bit was our arch rival in football, but not in aircraft, they had F-15 Eagles, we had the F-4 Phantom (later got the F-16 Fighting Falcons) so we had different missions. We were basically a "speedbump" in the path of the Soviet and East German armies until reinforcements arrived from the U.K. and USA. I always wondered why our most potent ground attack weapon was the M-60 machine gun (which I carried) and not at least a TOW or something in that range. At least the F-4s had nukes on them!!!

I'd take his $600 initially and buy a round or two of "Bitburger Pils" and some pomme frites...then give him his money (what's left) back...it's a "win-win" situation.....[sm=smiley20.gif]

I have had mine on for about two weeks now and have not been more than 30 miles at the most, and I cannot beleive how much oil is in the bottom of this thing, and as I have mentioned before, I do NOT drive this car hard at all...

I check my oil level pretty often now...

Tell me about it!!! I just came back from a 12 mile "sprint" around Loop 410 and sure enough, the oil level has increased by almost 100%...this is amazing!!! I wonder why DCX didn't put something cheap and easy like this on the production line??? Sure would have saved them some warranty money a few years down the road!!!!!![sm=smiley13.gif]

Unreal!!!![:'(]

FYI, I got a couple of e-mails asking if oil catch cans were needed on non-turbo vehicles...to the best of my knowledge, the answer is no, since there is no "boost" factor to worry about...(the oil shouldn't blow past your PCV valve)....one less thing to worry about....[sm=smiley5.gif]

None that showed up on the "sight glass"...I tipped it over to see if any would run out, and none did, although there could be a slight "coating" on the inside. I only ran it for a couple of days (12-15 miles) due to the clearence issue...[sm=smiley24.gif]

The guy who came up with the $20 oil catch can has updated his instructions...now he recommends hose clamps at the fittings...no problem, had several little ones laying around, took 5 minutes to add them...[sm=smiley4.gif]
