Went "wingless"
Before I bought it it was the first thing I had planned to do, but then I got it and it wasn't so bad. I'm not a fan of just about any spoiler on any car, and I finially decided today to see how I liked it off... I like it. The holes are jacked up with a couple small chips of the paint gone, hopefully the spoiler plugs will cover them.
And I already got reved on by a kid in a 5.0 first cruise out so there goes any theory of stealth with it off lol

I had no wing, I had the AVS Downdraft spoiler, and I now have the stock wing again. Why? Ahdunno...just didnt like it wingless it looked funny to me. I like it on other people's cars. But looking at it everyday....bothered me.
Looks good on Silver though....Me likes.

I think it looks good, more of a classier / understated look. Does anyone know how funtional the wing is? Is it just a matter of looks/taste, or is the car actually more stable @ high speeds with it. If so, what speed does it "kick in" at? Inquiring minds want to know! (before they are hitting 140+mph and feel the ***-end drifting around) I've gone back and forth on the idea of taking mine off.
Since we're talking about things on the rear-ends........ I've got this birthmark that looks just like.... Ahh.. kidding
But seriously, I've also been thinking of lowering just the back of the car to even out the look, and also for flatter handling. I'm just not sure if it will hamper the already scarce traction in 1st & 2nd by taking some weight off the front wheels. I would have to say that with the way I drive, I value the traction more than the look or the cornering. But if I can have it all then,....... Why yes, that will do fine.

Yup, it's a "functional wing". It really kicks in at anywhere from 115-130 mph depending on the wind. Like I drive at that speed everyday........but I like how it looks!!!!!

Looks good, Andy. I follow your car closely, because we got ours at about the same time, and I really like how you document, with good evidence, of the results of all of your modifications. I'm looking forward to you getting the downpipe, though! I think you once said, "needswing."
I am a fan of the wing. I can't imagine it not being on my car. I love seeing it when I look in the rear view mirror. The wing, to me, is what makes the car the car. I, for the most part, hate spoilers, but for some reason, I really like it on my car.
Anges have wings.....birds have wings......Buffalo's have wings.......I'm just a wing kind of guy, I guess.
Hmmm,,,on second thought...."fairys have wings, too." UGH.

Thanks folks
I really think it's just one of those things you like, or you don't like OR you're on the fence. I'm on the fence... I don't like spoilers, but I think the SRT-4s fits it just fine. I'm also very much liking it off my car though and right now my plans are to keep it off. But it's easy enough to put back on!
And Word, thanks... Sometimes I don't know if anyones interested or looks, I do like to document all the mods I do. Some of it is just pure personal enjoyment/pride along with the fact I have nothing else to do, but also I like to think that some of it helps someone somewhere. Sometimes I'll sit here for crazy long periods just reading and reading trying to find the info I want on this or that, so I try to post and put on my cardomain page all the types of things on my mods that I look for when I'm on my searches for info. I did the same thing with my truck and it just carried over.
Latest news on the NEEDSWINGS downpipe is he's shooting to have the latest batch finished tommarrow. So maybe I'll have mine mid-late next week hopefully!

Under 100 you won't notice, but at 140+, like you mentioned, it will definitely not only keep it glued down, but tracking straight, as the upward elements of the wing act like stabilizing strakes. The horizontal plane of the wing has the profile of an upside down wing, so there is downforce for sure. I like the look wingless on the silver, but have taken turns at 145+, felt the stability of the car and found it quite comfortable there, and definitely wouldn't mess with it.

It would be a + on handling, but might impact, as you surmise , negatively on low gear acceleration and grip at launch. You could get some coilovers, and have it all, since you could then mess with dampening and rebound.
Thanks for the info guys. Functionality knocks me off the fence, it stays. As far as the adj. coilovers, I would probably need to do the front as well and adjust the height to stock? Or could I do just the backs. Actually, if I do both I could set them up opposite of RWD drag shocks. Resist lift in front and drop in back. I still have to get used to weight transfer being a bad thing...[>:]
