Default Do BOVs do damage?

I live in Cali where SMOG is a big deal, and I want to upgrade my cheap stock BOV with a better aftermarket one, but im hearing that they can cause signifigant damage to the CAT. and motor over time. any input would be great!

cool cuz I was reading on other sites that because the car comes with a recirculation valve that the comp. will automaticly richen up the mixture anticipating the extra air, and by putting an external discharge BOV the no longer gets that boost of extra air but still richens up the mixture causing the car to run rich every time the BOV goes

o.O.....negative soldier. BOVs are wonderful. Although I dont recommend anything other than the Mopar BOV unless you plan to hold or spike more than 19PSI.

bov's help the car, not harm it. they release pressure from the system which helps relieve backpressure on the turbo.

i wouldn't recommend the mopar bov on anything, no matter what psi you're running, but that's just me. i can't stand that thing.

Usually I see people saying how all BOVs are basically a waste and just for sound unless you upgrade the turbo, is it fine to stay with the surge valve if you stay with the stock turbo? Or would it benifit at all from a true BOV? I don't care much for the high pitched BOVs, and after putting the intake on the surve valve is plenty loud for me...

it's not a waste, but you do have to understand that a bov doesn't give performance, it is more for extending the life of the turbo. it's well worth it on a stock turbo imo, the less pressure you place on the wheels the less problems you'll have down the road.

I'm thinking about getting the mopar BOV only because I want my warrenty to stay intact and my dealership said that it will still be there if they put it on...which i kinda figured them saying that part they just want the money lol
