Word, running it on the stock exhaust is a very possible idea... Lots of people do, because with the cutout open you don't need the rest of the exhaust anyways so you get cheap 3" exhaust. I posted that you might not like the cutout because it's rediculous loud, but if that's your thoughts it may work out for you... Just open it when you want/need the extra power to play with.

I don't have the bottleneck removed because I wanted to be able to bolt up the stock downpipe easily but I'm thinking now I may have the bottle neck removed and just swap out the whole exhaust for stock when it's time for smog check.

I just drove with the cutout open for the first time after reseting the computer... And wow, I can't help but feel that made a difference!

And about the needswings, they only come in 3" but he'll make the connector the size you need - 2.25, 2.5, 3.

And oh yeah, no check engine light yet... I drove a few hundred miles, then reset the computer and have another 100 and it hasn't come on... I guess it will eventually, but I do have stage 2 comming anyways

ACDCSRT4, I'm sure an exhaust shop could cut off the 2.25 connector and put on a 3"... Or you may be able to send it back to Needswings and have him change it for you. I thought about that also because I might get rid of the 2.25 bottleneck in mine.

Good info, Andy. I love the updates on what you are doing.

I am really thinking of going that route. I don't really know what the bottleneck is, though. You order the downpipe with or without the bottleneck, huh?

I cannot wait to see if you are now in the 13's on your 1/4 mile times.

The bottle neck is only there if you have the Mopar catback... The Mopar catback connects to the stock downpipe which is 2.25" (the cat-back is 2.5") so when you put the 3" DP on it goes from 3" DP to 2.25" to 2.5". Removing the bottleneck would mean it would go 3" to 2.5".

The Needswings automatically come with the 2.25 connector, you have to tell him if you want a larger size. (No idea if it costs extra)

Andy usually it takes at least 3 cycles of start-up/shut-down for the PCM to realize that there is a catalytic converter inefficiency code, p0420.

Therefore if you drove that 100 miles and only started the car up twice, the PCM would have no clue.

This is the same for any constant condition, however intermittent conditions, unless extremely severe wont pop a light.

Word....it was there, I had to do it!!!

I had probably 10-12 start up/shut downs the first time around and the light never came on. Though, I suppose it could have put up the code without the CEL? I'm sure it'll come on eventually, though I'm fine with it not lol.

Well its a drive cycle, so it has to be a certain amount of time that the car is running for the system to detect it.

Oh dont you worry....it will arise.

Word, you inspired me... This thing was running so strong today with the cut out open since I reset the computer the other day, I figured I should go try the gtech now, so I dropped the tires to 20 and went out...

BAM 13.9 - then the gtech freezes up and doesn't save it! LOL It's never done that before, I was pissed. So I tried again, BAM 13.9! As I'm slowing down a car starts approaching very fast - SHERIFF lol. I decided I was satisfied and came home. I had already passed a Sherriff like 10 minutes later when I was scoping out the roads, no need to press my luck further.

Anyways 13.9... Finially, this thing pulls so damn hard now through all the gears, as if it didn't before... But reseting the computer really made a difference after putting the DP on. The difference is VERY noticable.

I figure with the ****ty 2.3 60ft, I could improve that 13.9 very nicely on the track, the damn tires spin like crazy in first and second.

Congratulations, Andy! You broke into the 13's!! I *thought* that the downpipe addition to your car would be what did it.

Here's what I'm thinking, Andy. Once you put on stage two and get to a real track and off the city streets, I think your car, IF you can nail down a 2.1 60' time, will be down to 13.5 on street tires, and with drags and so forth coming later on, you will have a 12 second car.

I've run 14.1 at the track, but that was with no mods, so I am thinking, once I get the downpipe, that I will be able to hit 13.9, too. No,,,,I take that back, I did have lowering springs, but no other mods than that. And also, that was only my fifth run that I had ever made. The next time I go to the track, I will know more of what to do, PLUS, I am going to remember to let some air out of the front tires.

Oh, and I am assuming that your times that you did on your G-tech were done with your cutout open, right? I didn't see it, but I am sure that LSP will let me know if I missed reading it....LMAO. Just kidding you, Spark!
