Hey im new on this forum and I was wondering if any of yall had heard that the 2003 Srt-4 has 260-280hp? I was searching the web a couple of weeks back and found a web page claiming that the 03s have 280 hp, I asked around other forums and they say its very possible .Tell me what you think . I forgot the website that i was on so i can post it on here.Just let me know if yall have heard ot this too.

Straight from the factory, an '03 SRT had 215 horses (claimed), but probably a few more. The '04s from the factory have 230 (claimed), also probably a few more...with the Stage 2 w/Toys upgrade, and the Mopar/Borla cat back exhaust, you're looking at 280 horsepower in the "hi-octane" mode....[sm=smiley16.gif]

BTW, these aren't "my" figures, they come direct from Henson Motors, just outside of Houston, Texas in a little town called Madisonville.[sm=smiley4.gif]

No. The 300 horsepower and 300 torque is from the upcoming Stage 3 kit. Stage 2 is 265 HP on pump premium and 280 HP on 100 octane if you have the turbo toys.

 

The '03 SRT-4 was grossly under rated at 215 horsepower from Dodge. Everyone that has dynoed an '03 SRT-4, magazines and individual owners, have results showing around 226 horsepower at the wheels. Since there is a good bit of horsepower lost through out the drivetrain, it would be correct that the SRT-4 does indeed have around 265-280 horsepower at the flywheel/crank. The '04 SRT-4 is under rated at 230 horsepower as well. It has roughly 15 horsepower more than the '03 due to larger fuel injectors, the ones from the Stage 1 upgrade.[sm=smiley2.gif]

 

Yeah that checks- if you want confirmation just go to http://www.mopar.com/perf.html, go to turbo upgrade kits, SRT 4, stage 2, and it will give you exactly the same numbers these guys did.

 

Also remember we're all talking about two different ratings here- bhp, or brake horsepower, is measured at the actual crankshaft of the engine (via a water brake which provides resistance, hence the name), and whp, or wheel horsepower, obviously the hp measured at the wheels, via a dynomometer, or dyno. Like RR said, you loose power through the drivetrain, hence your whp will always be lower than your bhp- this is especially prevalent on awd cars (i.e.- STi, Evo). These are just the basics; any of these guys can go into more detail if you want.
Most manufacturers will report bhp to get the higher number- to DCX's credit, all the numbers they've given on the SRT 4 seem to equate to the wheels.

 

YES thats what i ment ,260-280 at the flywheel, but its also been dynoed at 245 hp at the wheel ill look it up and post the site
