Well after a long debate i pulled the srt into my monster garage and did what all car guyslove, cutting sheet metal on your new ride. I removed the factory black plastic hood piece, the one with 2.4 turbo on it, and trimmed approx two inches off the end that fits into the hood, opening it up for more airflow. Second i used the stock air filter cover andcut a hole approx3 inches in it. When you unbolt it and flip it over you will see in the middle of the lid, there is a round circle and a short 1 inch tube, this is were i made my cut on the circle, as the rest of the lid has webbing and i did not want itto colapse every time i gassed on it, second useing a empty masking tape roll, i lined it upon the air cleaner lid and put turtle wax on the top side and closed the hood. The result was a nice green circle template as to were to cut the underside of thehood. i tried various tools to cut the opening out on the hood and ended up useing a drill w/11/32 bit and a dremel tool to cut it out. Everything else tried to warp the metal or worse, tried to dent the top of the hood. To connect the hood to the air cleaner lid, i knocked a box over and a light bulb went off. There on the ground was the old ram air piece for my buell firebolt motorcycle that i had replaced earlyier in the year. Though it was in a D shape it was rubber and fitted nicely to the hood. It was over a foot long soi carefully trimmed it down, till it sealed on top of the air clearner hole i had cut out. The end result is a working CAI hood. I went to wal-mart and brought some spreading foam and sealed off the back side of the underhood vent and left the passenger side open to blow across the turbo. I'm pretty sure this is somewhat how the dodge engineers wanted it to look but for what ever reasons didn't. Performance is about the same, no neck breaking power increase, but it makes a mean hhhhiiiiiiiissssssssss with the turbo spoled up and sucking air. I'm Still useing the stock air intakeinside of the fender area,as i do not think that the factory hood an scoop will ever be enough to supply the engines needs. And there is the problem with relocating theair temp sensor. Well thought i would throw this out there i'm sure someone will do it better, but this only cost me 2 1/2 hours of my time and 6 bucks at wal-mart compared with 200 plus for a CAI setup. Would post some pics but have not been able to shrink them from 147 to 100kb to post on this site.

You could strip off every body panel on the car and that would have nothing to do with your engines warranty. Why would increasing air flow void warranty unless like someone else said that they could prove that that caused it. That is the same with any modifications. If the dealarship tells you that something you did to the car voided your warranty, make them prove that that caused the problem. There is a law out for that, but I have no idea what it says exactly.

Didyou price the cost of the hood, before you cut it up?? While I was looking in the parts' department at the dealership, a customer was ordering the front clip for his wrecked SRT-4, the parts' guy told me not to wreck mine, the hoodwas going to cost thepoor guy$3000 alone.I about freaked out when I heard that. Rather get a 10-piece wide body kit for that price. But that's dealership price for an OEM manufactured functional hood. T he spoiler he ordered was $900 .
