In Indiana, once you attain 12 pts on your license...you get a defensive driving class issued by the State. If you choose not to participate and do not answer the mail within 4 months of recieving that letter, your license is suspended for a year I believe it is now.

I personally think they should crack down more on other things then speeding. There are entirely too many idiots and dangerous drivers that dont speed that need more attention.

 

Another long shot, in wisconsin the officer has to radar you within 500 yards, you might be able to prove that being 2 miles plus from where the cop was taking radar, there was an error. It is worth a try. And get a decent radar detector. I have the escort s2 cordless, and it works great. There are probably better ones out there but for the dollar I would go with the escort, and I heard the x50 is the best on the market. I know valantine one people will argue, but either one will save you a33. I also run a bearcat scanner, which I am not really thrilled with, that will scan the police fresquencies, yet it looks like a radar detector....they will not realize what it is, even though it is dicontinued, go figure, but are available on ebay. I relied on these for a year while my licence was pulled. Never got pulled over, and no tickets since. Knock on wood. Good luck.
Next time point out that the speedometer goes to 160mph and the car is not designed to go 55. It should get you out of the ticket on the spot!

Radar detectors are useless against "instant on" radar UNLESS you are lucky enough to be near another vehicle that gets hit with the beam first, and the signal reflects onto your detector. I never speed going to work since I'm usually one of the few cars on the road at 0500 and an instant on radar would nail me dead, despite my state of the art detector.

When I worked radar, I would try to get at a right angle on a road with light traffic.......no reflections to warn the driver. And no, we had no quotas. Our shift OIC would determine how heavy we had to work traffic.....depending on how good he wanted to look in the Chief's eyes....the officers writing the tickets never got a damn thing out of it except crap from the drivers. It's like any other job. All the decisions come from the top. The peons carry them out...........peons with Glocks.

Sorry Dusty......but between the facts that I've had enough points for all of us, and yes.....loss of license and even jail time due to driving infractions (luckily all misdemeanors) and that I am married to a former cop.............I feel somehow qualified to make such jokes. No offense to yourself as an individual human being intended of course.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the new escort x50 is supposed to detect the instant on radar guns. I read that somewhere just don't remember where. The only thing that cannot be beaten is when they sit on an overpass and get you from behind.

 

Yeah, but my radar detector NEVER went off. It should have made some sort of beep if it was a radar. She told me "only CSP has indash cams that record the radar" Bull ****, I'm just gonna fight it.
