Ordered Mopar BOV & other goodies
So I finally just said screw it, and ordered the Mopar BOV from Modern Performance (since you guys seem to like them, plus they seemed pretty good on price
)
anyway... hopefully should have it by the end of this coming week and on next weekend...
I also orderd the clear turn signal lenses for the side markers on the front of the car... any advice on the install? it looks like the factory ones are - not cool - to remove... I think the clear ones will look cooler than the "yellow" ones on my blue ride

Yeah, if they have it in stock, you should get it pretty quick. I've never had a problem with them. You gonna try and put it on yourself???
You won't regret it, although some people on the road beside you when you shift might.[sm=smiley15.gif][sm=smiley36.gif] Can't wait to hear how well you like it after it's in.[sm=smiley16.gif]
Dusty (and others),
I plan on doing the mod's myself... I looked it over (the BOV that is) the other day... doesn't look any harder than some of the other dumb things I have had to do on cars I have owned... The idea of tied string on the wrench seemed like a smart idea and I have the 10mm open ends and sockets so that shouldn't be a problem. And thanks to my parents, for once in my life my "small girl" hands should be helpful
hahahaha...
Just quickly glancing under the car up at the side marker light covers though... that one actually looked harder to change than the BOV... no screws or bolts... just plastic and a plastic looking clip... plastic and I do not get a long well... I tend to push the limits of plastic well beyond it's modulus of elasticity... haha... any ideas on this one would be helpful...
also, what was that Permatec (?) sealent you guys recommended for the BOV? I need to get some of that too... (I should look back through the other posts huh? haha).

Good luck doing the BOV with just an open ende wrench and socket, they will work, but it will take a whole lot longer. I have never done the marker lenses, so I can't help you out there.
The marker lenses are actually pretty easy IF you get the car off the ground about a foot or so before you start- my ramps are too steep to clear the front fascia, so I went for it w/ the wheels on the ground- this probably added 20 or 30 mins to the install time, just in tool grabbing and yoga-like moves to get stuff.
Other than that, it's pretty easy, here's what I did:
First, remove the wheel well liners by removing the bolts that attach to the fender as well as the plastic clips that attach it to the frame (Like the ones they use to attach interior panels or the carpet in the trunk- I hate those things, once you've taken them off 2 or 3 times they're worthless, so be careful to damage them as little as possible). You don't need to remove these to get the lenses off, but it'll make your life a lot easier when it comes time to put the new ones on.
Now just take a screwdriver and a mallet and give the clip that holds the marker (it's metal, not plastic) a good tap aft- it should pop right off. The other side of the marker is just held onto the body by a tab on the light, so it will now just slide out. Remove the bulb assembly from the marker (just twist it), take the clear bulb out, put the amber bulb in, attach it to the new marker (twist it the other way
), place the tab in the hole while sliding the marker in, and while pressing the marker against the body panel, push the clip in (pushing it forward from the rear, [so to speak[sm=smiley9.gif]]) by hand. This is where removing the wheel well liner pays off- take a medium-length socket wrench (or something else with about a 14" handle and a flat bottom) and hold it against the flat part of the clip (you should be facing forward with the wrench protruding out from the front of the wheel well) and give it a couple firm 'whacks' (a fine technical term), and the clip should pop right in. Make sure the hump in the clip (you'll know what I'm talking about when you see it) is at least halfway underneath, but not all the way past, the tab on the marker.
Oh yeah, turn your wheels away from the side you are working on for easier access (left marker, wheels all the way right, and vice-versa).
I'm not terribly good at explaining this stuff- if you need any clarifications just ask, but this is an overly complicated explanation for something that's actually really easy.
BTW, the Euroclear lights from modernperformance look really good- it's getting dark here, but I'll go try to snap a pic real quick...

thanks Barney! that explaination should help greatly
and seeing the clear ones on your car makes me want to get mine even quicker now!!!! I may have some questions, but that all depends on when I get my stuff in and start working on it... hopefully the goodies come while it is rainy and crappy out so I have time to work on the car before it gets nice out

It does look a lot better- I think you'll enjoy it. I also got the clear 3rd brake light just to clean up the back end- it looks pretty sweet too. You don't need instructions on that one, just open the trunk and take off the bolts- couldn't be easier.
Throw on some pics when you get it done!
