I should be picking up my 05 Orange Srt-4 this weekend. I had a question about Mopar. Is the the company of choice or is it the choice people make to keep the warranty? Also the mopar BOV, why is it so cheap?

First of all welcome to the Family, the Mopar BOV is not what you would say a regular BOV, Its an atmospheric bov, its just a blue plate with holes to me.... I got the Greddy Type S and I love it, it gives me a sick whistle, I LOVE IT! Mopar has some good stuff, but most people go for it, because up to certain upgrades are they under warranty. I asked my dealership about turbo upgrades, they told me that Stage 3 is not under warranty but Stages 1 and 2 are... thats what I was told.

So I shouldnt even waste my money on that BOV. I heard the Greddy and the HKS are the best ones. Which do you suggest?

Personally I would suggest the Greddy Type S... well mostly because its the one I have and I like it alot. It all depends on your taste and what you want, if your seeking just sound go for the Mopar BOV, but if your seeking a bit of performance go for the Greddy or HKS. I've heard the HKS on several cars, it sounds good, I just prefer the whistle from the Greddy Type S. Theres a BOV comparison video floating around here, I am sure someone has it. Thats a real good source for figuring out what bov you want. I was going to get the Mopar BOV but when I took a look at it and read about it, I lost interest. But its all on you and what you want in your car.

Oh ok so the Mopar BOV just sounds nice but doesnt disurb the cars performance. I was checking on mopars website and saw their cold air intake and it said 20 lb of torque. Is this true or is there another intake people are using to get max hp and torque?

I have an AEM short ram intake, and I love it. From what I have heard there is really not that huge a difference of added performance between the cold air and short ram. Mopars cold air is good, Also Try either K&N or AEM, Dont, I repeat, Don't go for the iceman ones, I've heard alot of bad things about those.

I have the Mopar BOV, or should I say blue plate, and I love it. Not too loud, but loud enough to make an impression. The only bad thing I have ever read about it is that it can leak if not installed properly, but I haven't had a problem.

As for the CAI vs SRI, that is an ongoing battle. I got the AEM SRI (Like Izzy) because I couldn't justify spending more money on something that , in my eyes, didn't provide much more performance (if any). Also, depending where you live (Seattle myself), a CAI may not be a good idea. I just pictured myself driving over a large puddle and sucking up a bunch of water into the engine. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but I didn't want to risk it.

So, since someone else will eventually do it, I have to mention that the first "mod" you should do is the catch can. You can search the forum for that or OCC and you will find pelnty of info on how to do it. Mine was a $30 detup.

Welcome, you'll love it here!

i have the mopar bov and i love it too. true i have never heard the other ones but i know i put mine on in about 20-30 minutes and have had no problems. i dont see the point in the cai because that is what the intercooler does. it cools the air. i have a short ram and it works great. it is tight how you can hear the turbo a lot better. i dunno about the cai but i imagine it would be quieter. correct me if i am wrong. i would also suggest a manual boost controller. make sure you buy a good one. i bought a cheap on off of ebay and it doesnt work worth crap, but a good one will.

Well I just put my down payment on a Orange 2005 with 11,000 miles. It had a mopar stage 2 badge on it. But it was my first time driving one and it was fast as hell but I couldnt tell the difference if it really has stage 2. When I get it I guess i'll drive my friend and he can tell my the difference in his and mine.

If you've got some extra buttons/switches around your dash, it's a good sign you've got Stage 2 w/toys (unless they've been removed). Otherwise, you've got Stage 2 w/o Toys which means you'll have to check the injectors, the wastegate actuator, and/or the
PCM itself or the TIP sensor.

Hopefully the plrevious owner just didn't stick a Stage 2 badge on it............
