Looking at a 04 SRT 4, few questions about mods....
Ok Dodge actually did it.. i have been a mustang guy most of my life, and currently have a POS 2000 V6, it runs 14s with some bolt ons but i hate it, it great crappy mileage and is 4 years old.
I went with the little lady to check out the SRT 4 for her.. and i actually fell in love with it so in sept ill be trying to get an SRT 4, maybe sooner but i just quit my job cause i am graduating and i want to get a nice down payment together..
My question is this..
2004 SRT 4 in blak will be what i want.. Now the dealer gy said i can get a stage 2 kit installed under the warranty? is this true? also i have a list ihave made for my initial mods to make it more fun to drive, and to kill someof my mustang boys.. are these worth it? here is the list
MP Stage II Coil Overs $1200
MP Stage II Upgrade W/ Turbo Toys $1389
MP BOV Conversion $65
K&N CAI $200
MSD Coil $69
MSD Wires $45
APEXi Turbo Timer $95
Walboro High Flow Fuel Pump $110
MP STS w/ Booger Bushings $120
MP Exhaust By Borla $335
DC Sports STB $85
DC Sports Rear STB $85
Camber correction plates $45
Rear Sway Bar $140
MPx CF 3 Piece Set $350
Powder Coated Valve Cover $145
SRT Pedals Machine Finish $54
that would be it for starters.. i know its a tall order but i want to get the car as close to 12s as possible rigt away.. i dont know what they run stock but i thought it was mid 13s (2004 SRT4). Anyways, the car will be my daily driver and my road race and drag car for a while, eventually the wife will get it as a road race car and the car will get more goodies. but i want to know if this is a good list and what else i would need?
Fuel Managment system?
Better BOV or Waste gate?
Nitrous?
Motor mount inserts?
Etc
Also What is a Hard Pipe kit and would it help? or would i make me have to change the BOV and make the MP BOV conversion unessecary?
If i get a 2004 does it include a Limited Slip Diff or is that an option?
also what are the free mods that every car has? im looking to get this as soon as i can get one.. dealer mark up out here is $3K on an 04.. ouch!

Who's going to be doing the installs on all this? You're looking at a small fortune in labor costs if you have someone else do it.
List looks pretty complete. I might upgrade the rims/tires, but that's a personal preference. Motor mount inserts will give you a little more vibration and yes, the LSD is stock for 2004 SRT-4s....[&:]

I will be doing the install on all of these. i figure if i can rebuild a SBC motor i can put on some bolt ons..
space will be a factor, changed the alternator on a contour once, took six hours.. !!!
so yeah i will do the install myself, and then have the car dyno tuned and aligned.. so it shouldnt be that much labor..
thanks for the info!!!!!
i will let you all know when i get mine.. these cars are great!! i just cant believe i hated on them for so long!

whats the stage 3 involve?
the guy said the stage 3 wasnt street legal.. Like a care except for the fact that i really dont feel like voiding a 75K mile powertrain warranty in a month.. LOL
also i am reading a lot about the bushings in teh SRT 4 especially the 03's? is that a good area to get some performance parts early on?

Go here to get the straight skinny: www.mopar.com/srt_stage_3.htm
BTW, NONE of the Stage upgrades are "street legal" on pollution controlled vehicles...however, 20% of 2003 SRT-4 owners have installed Stage 1. That should tell you something...wink, wink, ...nod, nod.
The upgrade "performance" parts themselves are not warranted. Upgrades in and of themselves do not void the warranty. The dealer must prove that the particular upgrade caused a warranted part to fail. So far, I haven't heard of too many problems in this area...I got an extended warranty and have the mods listed below.....(Stage 1 is being "flashed" as we speak).

thanks for all the help Dusty Lions!, ill be looking into the Stage 3 set up as soon as i get the car and its avalible.. 300 hp in a 2900 lbs car woudl rule!!!! i could never see that in my mustang.
No Mopar Performance parts come with a warranty of any kind. If the dealership says the will warranty them you better get it in writing and have a lawyer OK it first, or they might screw you if and when you need to bring it in for a repair.
You seem to have a pretty complete list there. With your intentions with the car, the motor mount inserts should be near the top as well as an oil catch can. Here is the order in which I would modify it:
1- oil catch can
2- MSD wires
3- motor mount inserts
4- Mopar BOV
5- K&N Typhoon CAI
6- Mopar/Borla exhaust
7- Stage 2 w/toys
8- Mopar STS w/booger bushings
9- Whatever else you would like
If you seriously want to play with it, then you should get one of the good 3" SS turbo back exhausts with a high flow cat instead of the Mopar/Borla.
The hard pipe kit replaces the intercooler hoses with pipes. If the hard pipe kit has an opening for an aftermarket BOV, then I personally would plug it and just use the Mopar BOV, most seem to prefer it to the aftermarket ones.
The mods you have listed should easily get you into the mid 12's.[sm=smiley2.gif]
