That is true, and when I went to a winter weight (0-30) it filled up faster than normal........

DCX changed the 10W-30 to 5W-30 recommendation in 2005 to get past the EPA rules.....personally, if it's anytime other than winter, I stick with the 10W-30 syn due to the excessive heat the turbo puts out and the fact that the bearings in the turbo can actually "cook" the oil if they get hot enough. Either that, or go buy a turbo-timer.........

sorry for the hi-jack...
the manual has a min rating for the oil (dont have the book in front of me) required and reccommends mobil 1 synth.

the big question is....does the dino oil that Dodge dealers use meet that min reccommendation?

I had a service guy throw up the "if you dont use synthetic you will void the warranty"...a$$hole throwing that around made me a bit upset seeing how the car was serviced there and nowhere else since nov 04. The dealer just changed ownership now this is what i have to go thru....
I know, I know run synthetic.....but drain it every 3 months or 3000mi which ever comes first (like the book says)...thats just crazy, put 1,000 miles on that oil then drain it because its 3 months old, not me pal.

10W-30 should be fine for most of the country. The 5W-30 that Dodge changed to because of the EPA is too thin for driving in south Texas in the summer.....my dealer told me "off the record" to stick with the 10W-30. And yes, ALWAYS full synthetic. You can fudge a little on the 3 month oil change requirement, but I wouldn't go much past the 3,000 mile requirement.......even at today's prices, oil is still cheap insurance.

Yup, I noticed that if I drive into the "express oil change" at my dealership, they will attempt to put in regular dino oil unless you specify synthetic.......and they charge almost double the Wally World price for Mobil-1. I just end up taking my own Mobil-1 in the 5 quart container and watching them to make sure the right oil goes in......
