Neon / Charger / Vette
Well kids... I posted something similar in the Charger section... but... I was out in Brampton a week ago with some of the engineers working on a problem with the LX platform and I kept seeing the Charger SRT8's as they were coming off the line... and I decided I really like those cars! not so keen on the $40k sticker price... but if I off'd the Neon and my Civic I could have a pretty nice (new) Charger 8 or a used Vette... and I got to thinking... is this something I really want to do?? I just dropped green into the rims/tires, suspension of my Neon and last summer did Stage 2 w/toys on it... so...
I don't see myself really doing anything drastic... but it did spark my attention and got me thinking... what do you guys think? Keep the Neon... buy a new Charger SRT8... or start looking for a used (a few years older) Vette???

I voted SRT-4 for a few reasons.
1. The Charger is gorgeous, but the sticker price is nuts, and so is the gas mileage even with the MD Hemi.
2. The SRT-8 is RWD....with alot of horsepower...and snow and EGHHH
3. A Vette is NOT a practical all year round car, every Vette owner has a "beater", and insurance would go up as well.
4. You have the SRT-4 and a winter car, you live in Michigan, where for your current situation both cars work out nicely, unless you could keep the civic and buy a Vette I wouldnt do it.

A Vette can be a practical all year round car........... If you dont mind putting the miles + wear on it and gas milage is good accually better than my stock SRT-4 (Vette average 20mpg city vs my 17.5mpg city SRT-4). I find my Vette very comfortable to drive + (cruze controll is a big bonus)..... more so than my SRT-4.
yeah just about every Vette owner has a "beater"....... I have my SRT-4.... I say loose the civic and use the SRT-4 as a beater atleast it will be a fun one to drive.
My insurance is accually HIGHER on the SRT-4 than the Vette..... beleave it or not. I was PISSED when i found out how high the ins was on this car.... but got it any ways cuz i really like it.
N E how my vote = Loose the Civic .... Gain a nice used Vette - you can find really nice ones at reasonable prices with low milage.
racevette sounds like you keep the srt4 floored and and never touch the pedal on your vette cause that is more than hard to believe about the gas mileage almost harder to believe than the ins. my ins on my srt is 100-115 and when i got a quote on a corvette it was like 300 so you must have just got lucky or something
i say take the money you save from not buying the charger and vette and fully build the srt4 then you have something that really stands out

Whats funny, is my V6 Stratus was more then my V8 pickup truck to insure...and the only difference was a year between the two models....
Not everyone gets the same gas mileage despite the same motor. If you think that, then you seriously should do your homework. There are all kinds of influencing factors on gas mileage such as tires, weather, road conditions, the driver, and even the general upkeep of your car. Even the best maintained vehicle can still get crappy gas mileage. That said, for a good many people, the driver is indeed the first stop in that list of problems, as some people simply cant get their lead foot off the pedal....
with that being said dr the contrast should still be the same 50ins here and 100 there im still going to have the same policies as i do now but the contrast stays so i pay 100 for srt and 300 for vette, x in the country doesnt favor vettes the price difference will still be close to the same im saying if i pay more for a corvette here ill still pay more anywhere in the country

It DOES matter where you live, and it does matter what city, township, county, even state you live in. Some places are simply high risk areas....and you get quotes for THAT price. I'm insured thru a local agency....and they beat Geico, State Farm, AllState, TitanUp, and Progressive.......by something like $300 annually as the closest rate.
