Default Stage 1 Install

Put the Stage 1 on this morning in about an hour and a half...I took it slow and easy.
The instructions are clear enough, plus I had some color pictures from Sport Compact magazine that helped as well. The air box is the only thing that slows you down. Everything on the Stage 1 PCM plugs right in with no problems. I don't have a torque wrench of the right range to check my screws, but they'll last for a few days till I can torque them to the install specs....don't forget to re-connect your negative battery cable!!![sm=smiley36.gif]

As for the driving differences, the Stage 1 does make the SRT-4 "rumble" more when you let off the gas. First gear launches seem to be better and overall acceleration is more powerful. The BOV spacer kicks in sooner and is louder. Worth the price? Yes, especially when combined with the Mopar/Borla exhaust and the Mopar BOV spacer.[sm=smiley20.gif][sm=smiley20.gif][sm=smiley20.gif]

Awesome Dusty, I think I will get the same. I have the AEM shortram intake so install should be a breeze. I can see the PCM on my car clearly.

Yeah, that'll save a lot of time. The rest is simple and the harness plugs have a red "button" on top of that you push away from the PCM to take the plugs out. The screws are self-tapping, they'll cut right thru the soft metal of the PCM case....[sm=smiley16.gif]

Too bad you didn't have the CAI already, since you had to remove the air box for installing the Stage 1 you could have killed both at the same time. Glad to hear you got the Stage 1 installed.[sm=smiley20.gif] I'm still having to wait to get my exhaust on due to rain again.[sm=smiley35.gif][sm=smiley7.gif]

Yeah, I spent more $$$ in Montana than I had planned, so the CAI will have to wait a few weeks. I got the airbox removal technique down pat though!!!!![sm=smiley36.gif]

Dusty,

If you have not picked up your CAI yet, you might want to hold off a few. Seems Iceman (whom I normally wouldn't think of) has gotten Mopars seal of approval for their CAI. And other items.

Last I knew though, Iceman was supose to have came out with theirs a long time ago. And I read that Mopar Performance/PVO had tried their hand at a CAI and didn't get sufficient gains, probably over aftermarket CAI's, to actually go into production on them.

Correct, but we now have info that they had problems with tooling, since fixed and to expect a release within a couple weeks.
