MP/Borla exaust question
I installed mine today and like it a lot. I have the exaust tips very even, but the drivers side one sticks out maybe 1/2" farther than the passenger side one...I'll have to try adjusting it some more another day.
My question is this - How much clearance are you people leaving between the top of the exaust tip and the plastic bumper? I can fit one finger in there. I'm just worried about the heat melting the plastic.
Thanks.

That's about the same that I have on mine. I hadn't really thought about the heat issue, the larger diameter of the Mopar/Borla system tips should make it even a better "heat sink" than the original tips, if I remember my college physics correctly....[sm=smiley20.gif]
Thanks, Dusty! I was a little worried about that. Now I just have to get them to stick out of the bumper the same amount. You move one direction and get one set, but another moves in a different direction. [sm=smiley29.gif]
I'm sure you've been there and done that with yours.

Mine are hanging pretty even (the muffler tips, that is), the folks at the muffler shop took awhile to get them that way, though. [&:]
Muffler tips?[sm=smiley5.gif] Doesn't there have to be a muffler present to call them muffler tips.[sm=smiley2.gif][sm=smiley36.gif] I think they're exhaust tips.[sm=smiley2.gif]

Mine are like 1/4" from touching. They look good that way. I tried my hardest to get them pushed in so they didn't stick out but I couldn't. The thin metal heats up and expands so the tips stick out pretty good when hot.
Thank God someone else noticed the ever changing lenghts on these things, I thought I was going to the funny farm.[sm=smiley8.gif][sm=smiley36.gif] I too have noticed that mine seem to stick out more after driving and then they seem to retract after several hours, usually over night.

But my drivers sode tip has been right on the bumper since December with no melting. Even with the higher temps produced by S2
