Another SRT-4 wrecked
I found a handfull of new ones around here at dealers, they're still asking $21 for em lol
I really love the SRT-4, and I'm die hard Mopar, but I'm starting to think for this point in time I have to stray... A 04 Mustang Cobra would suit my needs. I found one close by on Autotrader today... SILVER! 10,000 miles, $25K. Looks completely stock and in excellent shape. I'm starting to think that may be my calling, atleast untill the Challenger comes out.

Man, hate to hear that you lost your car, andy. However, at least you came out in one piece.
I understand the want to get a cobra, but you will miss the little neon. I had a mustang prior to this car, and although it wasn't a cobra, it was a pretty decent car. Honestly though, the neon felt a lot better, as in more solid, than the mustang. You will love the power of the cobra, though. In whatever choice you make, I wish you well. continue to visit us here.

i would like to buy your engine, drive train, and rims and brakes. i have 750 bucks USD, down payment? BTW, sorry about the wreck, goddamnit, i would kill some one if they even touched my car, and its prety much stock
How much of a difference did that Maxxfabb conversion make to the Borla exhaust? I also hate to say it, but you would enjoy a cobra. But to be honest, for $25,000 you should really give modifiedcartrader.com a good look. For the price, you could get a MONSTER!
Dude, the new cobra is probably really bad *** and I am as MOPAR as you can get, but I will always continue to think that the Ford v-8 is one of the sweetest sounding powerplants on the road. I have an uncle who was very high up in Ford motor company, (about 17 from the top) and he tells me that Ford spends big cubic dollars on things like exhaust note. I have actually owned a Mustang though and it was pretty bad *** for the day being a '92 five point oh convertible, but when the wife got pregnant for the first one and we got a stroller and tried to fold it up and put it in the trunk and it did not fit, I had to go looking for another car, besides the fact that you can't reach around the b/c pillar on a convertible to access the back seat. Then my 6'3' self needs the seat way back so that leaves no room behind me at all. So I traded it in on the the afore-mentioned 95 Neon when they were brand new. It was a 5 speed, four door SOHC model. Blue. I fell in love with that car. I never liked the Mustang that much. The mustang was a little faster, but not by much. In anything but a staight line, my neon was so much better a car. The mustang rode like a rock. (anyone with a 92 will testify) it ate gas, oil and the air never worked real good. Plus I was paying big insurance bills. The Neon was 90% as fast, rode better, handled slightly better, was way cheaper to operate and had a genuine back seat. I was amazed at the all around ability of the Neon and it was just a joy to drive. The Mustang never really was a "joy" to drive. It did look and sound good though. Granted prior and post Mustangs suspensions were much better and my mustang was an auto which I now know is why it was so slow.(My buddies '88 lx 5 speed hatch was much quicker and more useful). I guess what I am saying is, I'd hate to lose you to Ford but I understand the appeal. Just do your homework and see if you would really be happier with one before you spend the long dong. I'd get a used SRT myself or maybe something with a Hemi. But that's me.
Yeah believe me I'm die hard Mopar, I really don't want a non-Mopar but the reality is for what I want there's just so few options.
I like the Chargers, but I would have to get a SRT-8 to be happy. The 5.7s are nice, but for myself to justify moving to a much larger vehicle it would need to be special. Right after the accident I started looking into the SRT-8 Chargers, asking around about people running road courses etc, and response was pretty good but after thinking more there's just no way I can get one at this time - double the cost of my car.
There's a few "new" SRT-4s around here, and a few used ones for sale. I'm unsure though. I truly loved my car 100%, but on the other hand I got it only because it was my only choice, for a Mopar. I did love it from the minute I test drove it but I wasn't and am still not a FWD or 4cyl fan and I figured it would be my one and only purchase of a vehicle like that. Even though I didn't even get to own it a year I wonder if I should just move on. I wouldn't be turned away from Mopar for good, but for now they're making my choices hard with the available vehicles.
Practical doesn't matter to me right now. 100% of my driving is pleasure. It's basically my biggest hobby, my car/driving. Hell, no one had even ever sat in the back seat of my SRT! lol
I have to agree about the Mustang exhaust note being so sweet... I've always loved it, and definitely wouldn't mind hearing it comming from my ride! I've been talking myself into a 03-04 Cobra the last two days. The one I found for $25K I found out has a salvage title so that's a no go. Most are closer to $30K which I can swing, but has got me actually thinking about a 04 GT. I could pay cash, and not be broke with a monthly payment, but on the other hand I could live with a stock Cobra no problem. Ahhh, I will be happy when this is all done and I just have a car!

Or you could get something like a Lexus IS300 with a V8, or one with an already transplanted Supra motor pushing 500+ HP to the wheels. A Cobra is not at all a bad choice, though. Not my style, but each to their own. You should still just browse modifiedcartrader.com. You might possibly find a Cobra in your area already modded a bit.
