Blow Off Valve
I'm posting this for my son. I hang out in the truck side of the forum myself. Black 02 Ram QC. He just picked up a black 04 SRT 4. He wants to install a BOV. Other than the Greddy BOV, what's available. What other parts will he need to install it? Are there any suggestions for other BOV's? How hard are they to put in? Sorry for all the questions. I've been looking at several sites and there are discussions about BOVs but nothing about the install or what other items are needed. Thanks in advance for your help.
Mopar might be his best bet, I don't I haven't installed one yet, that is the cheaper out of many. But there are GReddy, Blitz, HKS, a few others, but you're going to need more than just bolting it on to the car, the Mopar is a direct bolt on, that's the one that I'm going to go with for now then maybe later I'll do some more comparisons and see if it's worth it to go to another one.
Lets not forget the Forge unit. Slightly easier than the Mopar, retains stock functionality, sounds as good or better, nice billet bling
There's a thread about it, titles only search, "Forge and BOV" should find it.

if you dig through some of the old posts in the SRT-4 forum you'll find some install tips, pics, and other information. I have the Mopar BOV on my car (I figure if Mopar backs it, then it's built right for the car, unlike other "bolt-on" pieces I have dealt with).
The install isn't extremely difficult, but will require patience, and some know-how on cars. The Mopar BOV is about $70 from Modern Performance and takes about 1-2 hours (depending on ability) to install. I will spare the full detail on the install, but if you need more information, ask away. Like I said, there are other posts that have pic's and more detail regarding this topic.
by the way, you let your son have an SRT-4... you are a good dad

If you go with the mopar one it does require patience and you have to follow the directions. Don't think that if you are a motor head this is an easy install. I am not and it took me like 8 hours(by myself and the wrong tools!). Use the directions on that install. If you get an up pipe with the BOV flange and a greddy or hks or whatever you still have to block off the recirculating one that's on the car already. So either way you have to get in there. By using a greddy or hks they are louder and adjustable and have been tested to handle high psi. They are alot more expensive but you do get what you pay for going that route. Using the Mopar one you still get good sound for the money. I have the mopar one and kinda wish I would have waited. There is nothing like the sound of a BOV but I just hate the bleed off at low speeds. At low speeds you don't get a continuous hiss it's more like a spit or a hiss cut short, kinda anoying if you are cruising through the parking lot. At higher RPMS however the Mopar one is Hella loud. There is a BOV comparison video on the net that is a good video to see if you are having trouble deciding.

Thanks for the responses guys. Very impressive. I was almost expecting a bunch of smart a__ comments but instead I got well stated comments with some good info. I'll pass this on to him and let him decide what he wants to do next. SRT_YA, I had nothng to do with him buying the SRT 4. He's a big boy, he's married and he pays his own bills. Again, thanks!
I would not recommend the Forge without firsthand knowledge. I have installed two of these for local owners, both of whom are new to "The Way of Bloody Knuckles"
It is indeed a true "bolt-on", even easier than the Mopar, since it's just one piece, has two o-rings to seal it tighly, and functions exactly the same as the stock valve and the Mopar plate together
sound clips (from the guys I put them on, stock 04s)

No, I don't sell these, and have NO financial interest with any vendor that does. I think it's a great product, that's all. I STILL don't have one myself, every time I think I have enough "Good Husband" points saved up, something else comes up, right now it's a project I did not anticipate, but have proritized in front of the BOV.
One last item in favor, at least for me. It can be had in silver, a nice, stock looking color
