Default Whistling?

I just installed a new CAI and capped the valve cover with a breather. Well, I took off and everytime I hit it, about 12-15 PSI it starts mto whistle for a minute. Would this sound warn of a boost leak? If indeed it was a leak, would it show on the vac side of the boost guage. The beep/whistle caught me off guard. The sound it made was like hitting the warning on a greddy boost controller. Just curious if I should be alarmed or not.

I had an AEM CAI before this one and it didn't make the sound I speak of at all. It almost sounds like beeping it's so high pitched.

I didn't like the fact that I couldn't hear my turbo when it was stock, I could easily hear it on my '88 Daytona Shelby Z, but not on my SRT-4. Thankfully my CAI took care of that.

wait until you spike 19 and hold 15.....you can really hear the whistle then, plus PTB makes the intake flutter so loud!!!!

Right now I'm spiking 19-20 and holding 17-18 til about 5400 rpm, then my boost falls off. I need an AGP WGA to hold boost a little better. I don't feel any power loss or have any signs of a boost leak, so I guess I'm OK. I'll just have to get used to the high pitched whistle I guess. The only reason it alarmed me was the fact that it sounds so much different than the AEM CAI. It had a definite turbo spool sound, but not near as high pitched, It sounds like an alarm going off in my car or something. The intake itself is TEN TIMES better than the AEM. It looks better, fits better, and pulls more air than the AEM. Not to say the AEM is a bad product, the JMB is just better. And now I've got plenty of room in the engine bay for other things.........

Dude, that's not flutter. It's compressor surge and your doing nothing but badly wearing down the life of the turbo.
