the car seems to run fine but when coasting down hill and the acceleration peddle is pressed slightly I get a bumping like feeling, I was wondering if it could be the fuel delivery or spark realated.

 

Mine has done the same thing on really steep hills for the last 3 years. Everything checks out OK. The SRT-4 has a lot of quirks, like the "shudder" when you turn off the ignition........

The "shutter" thing is a Standard Transmission thing. Simple fix..... clutch in when you kill it. Same thing with my Vette but FAR more pronounced. Holding the clutch down when you turn her off will keep it from doing that.

Ive noticed the "bumping" as well. Have no clue what it is though; the Vette doesent do it. It may just be a FWD thing. /shrug/

 

What originally brought the "shudder" issue to DF was the fact that it didn't happen on new cars, only on SRT-4s with more than about 1,000 miles on them......the issue was treated as something unique to the SRT-4 due to the so called "power increase" after 3,000 - 5000 miles on the engine.

I believe it has to do with the amount of vacuum in the car at that given time. Its above what idle is (numerically speaking), and you still are partially pushing on the accelerator, but NOT pushing enough to bring it back up to the normal state of vacuum. When you're going down the hill and you can nudge it up to 18-19 the car is happier. So I've tried that to prevent it.

Let me know if that works for ya, it definitely works for me...sometimes you have to speed to to do it...lol but hey...its better than bucking.

 

I put some injector cleaner and refueled and it stopped most of the (bummping) feeling and took it past 18 19 and that smoothed the rest of it out.
