STUTTER THAN QUITE?
So this morning i was driving to work and my car did something very funny.I was on the highway(in traffic)putting along at about 30mph in 4th gear.So i am creeping along and traffic started to speed up so still in 4th gear i slowly start to accel to keep up with traffic and the car just started chugging and back firing so i let up and down shifted to 3rd and all was well.So cruisin along again in 4th and it started doing it again,so this time i came to a complete stop and WOT from 1st all the way to 3rd and now its not doing it.So i finish my drive in and there where a few more times after that 1 to 3 blast that i was cruising in 4th and even 5th gear and it didn't do it again.I just think its really wierd it did this for like a 3 block radius than all of a sudden it was ok..NO CEL,NO CODES.Any ideas
I'm not going to fix the problem but I thought I'd tell you a true story. Back when I was a Technician I had a car that would start sputtering, missing, running rough in 3rd gear like that so the 1st thing I did was a tune up, plugs, wires, cap rotor, the good old day stuff. The lady came back the next day, same problem. I checked it out, the Shop foreman checked it out, nothing was wrong. The lady came back again the next day, same thing. Finally we asked exactly where this problem was happening and she said it was in Alexandria Virginia, just before the Woodrow Wilson bridge so we drove there and damn sure it did it to us too. We noticed a new cell phone tower had just been put up in the area right next to the interstate and her car problem pretty well coincided with the cell tower being put up. To make a long story short that cell tower was interfering with the PCM on the car and causing the problem. We ended up wrapping the pcm with aluminum foil to insulate it from the interference and damned if it didn't fix the car !!!
Anyway, now that I'm done reminiscing, have you checked the plugs and wires lately ? Injectors gumming up possibly, BG 44K is a heck of a good product for cleaning out fuel systems and injectors that you can buy at most highline auto parts stores, the stuff is about $20 bucks a can but well worth it once a year or so.

first of all, it's a bad idea to be going that slow in that high a gear, it's going to cause stumbles on its own. if you need to accelerate, down shift! anyway, the stumble could be caused by a few reasons.....are you running a wga with no mbc? that could do it. it could also be your plugs and wires....my wires were sparking to my strut tower bar once and i had a nasty stumble. check the wires and replace the plugs just to be on the safe side. i'm willing to put money on plugs/wires though......
No still runnin stage 2 WG with pcm controlled boost. The plugs are denso Iridiums and there not more than 4 months old.I have MSD wired aswell that have maybe 20k on them.I know your not suppose to give it alot of gas at low rpm's but when i say i accelerated i mean i just barely rested my foot on the pedal so its not like i was FLOORING it.But like i said this was the first time it did it but after i opened her up a lil all was well.I personnely think if it was a plug or wire problem it would be more consistant.Would the **** "Winter blend fuel" cause something like this? Thanks
No Shane - Just those damn Colorado roads, they put some much **** down for the snow it's probably clogging something!!!!!
Just kidding, mine started doing that out here, they replaced the TSP wiring and it things were dandy!!!!!

Mine did that after I was forced to buy some cheap *** fuel in the winter on a trip out to west Texas in a no-name town. It actually started to die out and then slowly came back to life, sorta. A half tank full of Texaco in Fort Stockton, Texas cured the problem........

PS, srt4babe, where in Colorado were you?
