Default STS & BOV

Yeah I finally had time to install my Mopar STS and Mopar BOV, very happy with my STS, however not that impressed with my BOV. Although it's not installed properly due to I lost one of the bolts underneath my engine and tranny, and of course was the one where it is imposable to get on and off. So here is the bigger problem, it hasn't fallen yet, and I can't see it anywhere. I was wondering if anybody has the specs on that bolt so I can go pick one up. Boy was that STS install a pain in the A$$, as well as the BOV. AND on to top it all off my CAI hasn't arrived yet so I have to take my intake apart all over again.

Just use one of the old bolts that you had to remove and replace with the longer ones that came with the BOV and add about half an inch to it's length.[sm=smiley2.gif]

what with a welder?

... no just kidding, that's what I planned doing, thought about it after posted the question, go to Home Depot with the bolt and see if I can find anything close. Thx RR.

So do you think that bolt would make a huge difference in the sound? Also when you installed the gasket what side did you install on? The Firewall side or the engine side?

The gasket goes on the firewall side between the turbo housing and the Mopar BOV. The opening in the center of the Mopar BOV goes towards the engine, against the purge valve that you remove to put the BOV on. One of the most important parts is the gasket and the Mopar BOV's alignment. You have to make sure that the C shaped cut out is aligned properly with the one on the turbo housing and that the purge valve is also facing the same direction it was when it was removed, where the vacuum line goes on is in the same direction it was in before removal.

The bolt that you are missing is very important, especially since it is on the same side as the C shaped cut out. This makes it extremely prone to leaking boost. The gasket is easily put on wrong and not properly aligned, this is one of the reasons I highly recommend the use of the Permatex Hylomar gasket dressing and flange sealant. It will keep it in place and eliminate the chance of a leak.[sm=smiley2.gif]

Well just got that bolt installed and of course had to move the gasket, but hey it's all working now. I am very impressed with the BOV the gasket in the right place seems to make a huge difference, hehehe. So now I get to drive my car after it all being apart since Friday evening, only because of the hours that I work, M-F: 9-6, Sat: 10-5:30, Sun: 11-8, so there isn't light out long enough for me to work on my car, and my garage is so full of junk I can't pull it in for the light.

But it is all done, and will have to take the intake tube off again when my K&N Typhoon comes in. Of course I ordered it all together so I could do it all at once, makes sense to me, but no Modern Performance had to be all out, "We'll ship it when they come in." Well this was a week ago Friday. Oh well just gives me more time under my hood.
