My SRT-4 Just got towed in
Well today on the way to church, I was rounding a corner, and slowing way down because there was some gravel from construction, and had it in Second stuck in the clutch, was just pulling it back out and putting in the gas to accleerate and it died. No luck getting it started again and it had to get towed
. Man was that sad, and wow was the bumper close to hitting the piece that extends from the bottom of the tow truck, because the car is so low, luckly just the plastic piece under neath scraped and not the bumper. I just don't know what is wrong, if it is the clutch or a sending unit. The battery works because you stick in the clutch and try to start it and the air and the radio come on put it wont turn over, it will click a little from the outside but nothing. As you most know, I'm 15 and now my dad says if it is the clutch I will probably be saying goodbye to the SRT-4.
I would cry if that happened. God I hope not, just the thought gets me sick to my stomach. He has never had luck with 4 cylinders, and says it aint worth having if it is gonna break down at 4500 miles. Anyone have any ideas, I'm hoping it is just a sending unit or something, even though it is under warranty.

that really sux
i have to ask did u break in the car before u started to really get on it. my friend had an evo he beat on when he first got it and blew the engine at 4k. u have to treat a turbo car like a little kid in the begining so it will last then have your fun

The owner's manual for the SRT-4 says occasional bursts of speed are OK during the break in, but they warn against winding it out in the lower gears...
No the most I ever puched it to was about 4000-4500 like twice, no more, and that has been a couple of weeks if not more. I don't drive it at all like I see those guys do on the videos people post.
Hmm, how many miles on the car? Clutch is covered for 12 months or 12 thousand miles, like brakes pads and other wearables, ceeck your warranty book. Abuse obvisouly voids that. Some owners have reported problems with slave cyilders acting up, therefore never allowing the clucth to operate fully, leading to an early death of it. One owner went through three cltuches before the slave cylinder was diagnosed.
Wow, that sucks.[&o] When you turn the key to start it, it does absolutely nothing? It doesn't even crank over or engage the starter? It almost sounds like a computer problem, like it is no longer reading you keys' chip. Or maybe like you stalled the car and the clutch pedal sensor went out not allowing it to be started because the computer doesn't know that the clutch pedal has been push down.
I hate wussy a** assisted clutches, I wish it had the good old standard clutch like my Shelby Z has. Now that was a mans clutch, not one of these wimpy little fufu clutches that an infant could use. No, it was a mans clutch that you had to stand on to get it down to the floor and there was no option of holding the clutch in for a light, that would cramp your leg up or wear your leg out. You had to muscle it down, now that's what I like.[sm=smiley20.gif][sm=smiley4.gif]

71 Roadrunner. I think that is it, it was like the car stalled and I tried to restart it and all that comes on when you turn the key is the gas light, and the little red light that tells you when your alarm is on, its solid tho not blinking. The dealer is swammped this morning so it will be a while, adn the fact the dealer where I live does not sell SRT's doesn't help any.
What all comes on the stage 1 kit, just a pcm flash, because if they have to reprogram the CPU and order in the program I should just say I have the Stage 1 PCM and they will believe it , Doubt it would work tho lol

Probably wouldn't work. It has a different part # on it and a rather large sticker that says "Mopar Performance Stage 1 Turbo" and another sticker that says "Only to be used in a vehicle with VIN ending in: XXXXXX"...
Just a thought. Some owners have evperienced problems with a wire harness that runs underneathe the clutch pedal. When the clutch gets pushed in, it can crimp these wires. The best thing to do is follow the wires to the white plug-in harness just to the top right of the clutch pedal. Turn the white plug-in a quarter turn to the left and pull straight out. Now just loop the wire harness over the clutch pedal, reinstall the clip and zip-tie out of the way.
