Default Stage 1

Okay, so I've been reading around and I've decided that I'm going to buy Stage 1, an aftermarket WGA, and possible a MBC. I've got about $500 to get this stuff. Where is the best place to buy it (ie cheap and fast shipping). Also, I've seen a ton of comments about buying used Stage 1 kits for pretty cheap. Any idea where to find one?

If you buy a used stage kit it will not work....it would be a waste of money....the stage kits are registered to the specific cars that they were ordered for. And unless you pay to have the pcm re-flashed it won't work. Be careful about boosting up the stock turbo it will blow up over time. I personally know of 2 that have blown up bu boosting up to 17 psi or higher

Check ebay for used stage 1s and get it reflashed. Make sure it's the one made for your model year. If you still have a warranty, stage 1 may not excite your dealer, but a WGA probably will. The trick to upgrading the SRT-4 or any car for that matter, is balanced upgrades. Don't put too much of a strain on any one part at one time.......more torque and HP are going to lead to motor mounts, stronger axels, etc.

I was just thinking, am I better off just saving a few hundred more bucks and get the Stage 2 w/o toys?

That's an option I would consider. A bit more power w/o the hassle of the "toys"........

it will still be cheaper to buy a used stage 1 kit and getting it reflashed than buying it new just like dusty said as long as its for your year car, now boosting up to 17 psi is not dangerous for your car, you just have to have the right a/f ratio and your good, i have about 10 of my friends boosting at about 20 psi and there car is still running strong, like my car im boosting 20 psi spiking on the stock turbo and my car is running good, but i have the a/f right, if you run high boost and your too lean then you will have problems, thats a good little setup your trying to buy i would go that route if i were you but just like dusty said watch out with warranty and get it done right, good place to look for good prices is modernperformance . com

its sad to say but all mopar stuff is way over priced now, if they were smart they should do a blowout sale to get rid of the stage kits and other parts because none of the srt-4(neon style) will work on the new caliber srt. Besides who would want to mod a caliber srt-4, yet alone buy one

Good luck finding a used one for a 2005, I checked e-bay for a month before I broke down and bought it new from Howell automotive back in August. I could find 2003, 2004, but not 2005 on e-bay. I still don't have my Stage 1 but Howell keeps saying it should be here soon.
