Default psi question? turbo is a little low?

So - while all of this great stuff has been going on with my car, I have noticed one thing. I have never been able to get the car to boost over 13 psi. I checked all of the intercooler hoses and they are quite tight. I have an aem short ram and a mopar bov which I torqued appropriately. I initially thought that the car was still in its break in period - but now that I've crossed 3000 miles and I still can't hit more than 13 (and occasionally waver around 11-13 at full throttle in third and fourth) I am really curious.

I am hitting appropriate numbers in the 60 and 1/4 but I have for some reason feel like the car has a little more to give now and I would like to see.

Should I be hitting 14 or 15 I hear everyone talking about with the stock computer or is this normal?

additionally - a new development - don't know if it's my imagination.

All of a sudden, 2 days after installing the inserts, the car sounds a little different. It almost seems like at the top end it is falling off a little. It might just be that it's a little smoother but it feels a little restrained now after 5000rpm where before it kind of lept to 6000 rpm before. It also makes a little raspier note. And a the top of the gear after up-shifting it makes a little burpish kind of noise.

Any thoughts?

PHR (gotta call you something) the car allows for environmental conditions, so in the cooler air we've been having lately, you levels wont be quite as high, since less boost is required to acheive the torque target, which is all the computer cares about.

How does the computer measure torque, you ask? Good question!!!!!! My personal geuss is that there yet another damnned algorithm, this one using RPMs vs measured road speed, with who knows what else thrown inMaybe some throttle position, a dash of pixie dust

I have been seeing 15-16ish on my S@ car these past few days. Wait til we have a 90+ day, then see what you get, but 14 is the absolute tops for a stock car, unless you drive in ridiculous conditions.

I have read from more than a few people that inserts and even more so the "dog-bone" motor mounts will audibly change your exaust note and it can also be felt through the gas pedal.
This is just what I have read, but they all say it's normal.

Good luck.

Same thing that I've heard, it sounds louder and you can feel it in the pedals. Your boost level is dictated by the atmospheric conditions, weather, humidity, temperature, barometric pressure, elevation, etc. Something as simple as where you live can control your maximum boost pressures.

well, then - I guess I like it - she sounds even meaner. At least inside the car she does.
The exhaust sounds more throaty and pick up is a little bit more responsive ( I guess due to less motor flex).

Couple things- torque is hp times a constant for a given rpm- I'm on base right now, but when I get back to my room I'll get you the exact formula.

Second- up in WA I only got 12-14 psi, I assume due to the wet and cool conditions up there, but since I've been in OK I regularly see 15-16 on hot days, so it seems that it varies quite a bit.

Third- I can't wait to go back home- I don't know how you Texans deal w/ this heat.[sm=smiley21.gif]
