Default car trouble

I few days ago I posted about my turbo making noise, then I checked everything I knew to check. Well it went to the dealership and it turns out the wastegate has some bad bearings. So they are getting me a new one, since it is under factory warranty. Anyone else have this problem?

Never heard of this before. What brand and type (dino/syn) and weight oil were you using?

i use the mobil one synthetic and i am using what the owners manual said. i think it is the 5w-30. i have to wait a few days before the part comes in. i guess once they replace it, i will find out and see if they are right.

personally i would think bearings in a turbo would be the problem before the wastegate, but i am not a mechanic. we will see soon enough. they also told me to keep driving my car until the parts come as if it is not a problem, but after today since the weather is nice, the motorcycle will come back out of the carport.

neither the turbo or the wga have bearings, so your mechanic is full of ****. it's a dodge dealer, doesn't surprise me. you didn't mention if you were overboosting or anything, but i will tell you that driving around boosting on a busted wga is NOT safe. either your diaphram ripped or the spring went, either one can cause some damage if not replaced. it's not unheard of, and the type of oil that you use has nothing to do with the stock wga.

The car is pretty much factory as the boost goes. I have been driving as normal, which is slow. I hardly ever get much over 3000 rpms. But after the 30 mile trip home today, it will be sitting until the dealer is ready for me to bring it back.

PSI Chick, give me your opinion because I dont know much about these cars. It does sound like a bearing in my mind, but it only occurs at about 3000rpms in every gear. It dont happen when I get on it, but if I am just easing up to speed thats when it happens.

well once they replace it, if it is not the problem i at least got a new part for free. i guess the warranty is good for something.

i was overlooking psi chicks comment and i thought about one more thing. it happens at 3000 rmp, which puts up a vac of 10 on the boost gauge. this is why i feel it has to be something with the turbo or wastegate.
