Well I personally haven't taken either one to bed with me, so I wouldn't know how each one feels between the two.....

If your asking is it better than stock, all intakes will be better than stock, in a way. But some may say different.. All CAI's will have bigger pipes and that alone will give you more power. The big question is which one is the shortest from point A to point B. Heat soak is only a problem when you start off. Once the car is moving and you get the air flowing thru the engine bay, the metal will cool. Its just a matter of how fast on CAI can cool to outside air temps. Also the placement of the air filter either inside our outside the engine bay will come into play here as well.

Other than that, pick the one you like.

Since we are driving turbocharged and intercooled engines, heat soak isn't as big a problem as I understand it. I went with the AEM short ram because I like the instant throttle response from a shorter pipe and I like to hear everything that is going on in the engine. I have been very impressed with the results. AEM makes some of the most well researched and tested products out there, so I'd say you will be very happy either way with the AEM. You'll love the whooshing and whining and spoolong noises you get as a result. Get yourself a MOPAR BOV to go with it to finish the package and your car will respond better and sound AWESOME.

Good luck.

Personally I would go with the K & N Typhoon CAI instead of the AEM, and I did too. Either one will let you hear the turbo quite well and give you a performance increase.

I have personally seen AEM CAI's cause damage under the hood on an SRT-4, and I believe it's an actual problem they have addressed, and are supposely fixing with a new design or something, or perhaps now it has been fixed, I'm not sure if it's how the CAI sits or what, just looked under a guys hood and was like [sm=smiley35.gif] and he was like [sm=smiley19.gif]

That is what Modern Performance shows as well, I believe, with their dyno results. All I know is that I love mine, both the looks and the performance.

I had never really heard of a problem with the AEM, but I have heard of problems with the IPP CAI.

You're probably not going to feel much of a difference with any of the CAI's or short ram intakes until you really start adding more HP. Then you will might it to support your other mods. After all, your car comes stock with a CAI.
The trade off between CAI and short ram is that the CAI is getting cooler air, but it must travel through more turns and longer tubing with the slight risk of taking in water. The short ram will take in the hotter air underneath the hood, but it will travel a shorter distance with less bends.

I'm still on the stock box.

Yup, that infamous IPP CAI. I ran into a few problems myself. But with my new modified install, that basically too away all of my problems. It made a very nice fit. It sounds very good too. Haven't heard much about the AEM or K+N. If I didn't get a very good deal on the IPP, I was totally leaning towards the K+N. And if you are worried about hydrolock, you could always order an AEM Bypass valve. I had one of those on my Civic.
